Re-enforces my determination to never be in that situation. I KNOW, I don't stand a snowballs chance in prison.

Deadfall. "okay" killers on the run flick, a more cohesive script would have done wonders.

I stopped watching South Park a long time ago but I remember the Mecha-Streisand episode like it was yesterday. Obviously that would be my favorite.

October may be over, but it's still Schlock-Tober at Casa Del Freddy. Yesterday's Double Feature:
"Raw Meat" (aka "Deathline," 1973)
In this '70s Brit horror flick, a police detective investigating a missing person case in the London Underground eventually discovers a family of cannibals that have been living in a long-abandoned subway tunnel for generations, snacking on unlucky passengers. Not nearly as much fun as its premise makes it sound, Donald Pleasance is funny as hell as the tightly wound cop and there are some good gore bits here 'n' there but otherwise it was fairly pedestrian stuff.
"2 Headed Shark AttacK" (2012)
Ahhh, the Asylum, delivering the schlock once again with an irrestistible trailer that pretty much tells you everything you need to know about the movie. A group of sea-faring college students (including Brooke Hogan, daughter of Hulk) and their chaperones (including Carmen Electra) end up stranded on an island when their boat is damaged, and soon learn that the waters surrounding them are patrolled by a giant 2-headed mutant shark. Yep, that's the whole plot. Mayhem, of course, ensues as the shark chomps on a seemingly endless series of girls in bikinis. In other words, this movie is exactly what I expected: silly, extremely gory nonsense with plenty of T&A.

"Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" (2012)
Crap-tacular sequel to 2007's mediocre "Ghost Rider" finds Johnny Blaze hiding out in Eastern Europe (?), where he's drafted to help protect a boy with special powers from a mysterious group of Satanists. Many explosions and crashes ensue.
...the first "G.R." was no great shakes but good LORD, this one makes it look like 24 karat gold. The story appears to be made up as they went along, and the pacing is so sluggish that I found myself checking my watch well before the halfway point. The only good thing I can say about this flick is that the special effects have improved since the first film so Ghost Rider certainly looks more bad-ass than ever.
Ghost Rider is a cool character worthy of a decent film, unfortunately this ain't the one. Avoid!!

When I saw it, it made me wonder if the writers even SAW the first one. Some scenes looked like they were going for some kind of surreal metaphoric feel to it. Comic book movies are supposed to be aciton movies, but this was more like an artsy film masquerading (SIC) as an action movie. I saw it for $.75 and even THAT was too much.

I got it for nothin' cuz I borrowed it from the library... so all I lost was 90 minutes of my life
But yeah, I'd had higher hopes for this one since they got rid of the previous director (the hack that had previously done "Daredevil") but unfortunately they replaced'em with the pair of hacks from the "Crank" movies.
Also... Nicolas Cage is TOO DAMN OLD to be playin' Johnny Blaze.
If and when there's ever another G.R. movie (unlikely, I think, since this one tanked) I hope they start over with a new cast. Cage has had two tries at it now and they've screwed it up each time. Maybe a 3rd time would be the charm.

End Of Watch (2012)
Intense cinema verite style cop thriller following a couple officers through their daily patrols in South Central Los Angeles. The hand-held cam stuff might turn some people off, but the style works perfectly for inserting the viewer into the story, you feel like you are riding along with these guys in the patrol car. The film is dark, brutal and feels honest. Recommended.

Watched the Rams look utterly pathetic against the Jets. How can they play up to the level of the 49ers one week and then down to the level of the Jets the next? Frustrating.
