Poland's Progressive Rock shooting stars RIVERSIDE are happy to unveil the cover artwork for their upcoming fifth studio album "Shrine Of New Generation Slaves". The artwork for their much anticipated release was designed once again by Travis Smith / www.seempieces.com, who has already worked on all the previous releases of the band as well as for artists like Avenged Sevenfold, Devin Townsend, Anathema, Nevermore or Opeth. "SONGS" will be released in Europe on January 21st, 2013 via InsideOutMusic.
The album's tracklisting reads as follows: RIVERSIDE - "Shrine Of New Generation Slaves" 1. New Generation Slave (4:17) 2. The Depth of Self-Delusion (7:39) 3. Celebrity Touch (6:48) 4. We Got Used To Us (4:12) 5. Feel Like Falling (5:17) 6. Deprived [Irretrievably Lost Imagination] (8:26) 7. Escalator Shrine (12:41) 8. Coda (1:39)
"Shrine Of New Generation Slaves" was recorded at Serakos studio in Warsaw, Poland (where the "Reality Dream" trilogy" was also tracked) with Magda Srzednicka and Robert Srzednicki.
"Shrine Of New Generation Slaves" is the full-length follow-up to "Anno Domini High Definition", which had entered the sales charts in Poland at # 1 (Gold album status by now!), Germany at # 94 and The Netherlands on # 58 upon release in 2009. In 2011, RIVERSIDE last released a special EP entitled "Memories In My Head" in order to celebrate the band's 10th anniversary of existence.
RIVERSIDE Discography: Out Of Myself - CD/LP 2003 Voices In My Head - EP 2004/2005 Second Life Syndrome - CD/LP 2005 Rapid Eye Movement - CD/LP 2007 Reality Dream - 2DVD/2CD 2008/2009 Anno Domini High Definition - CD/LP 2009 Memories In My Head - EP 2011 Shrine Of New Generation Slaves - CD/LP 2013

I have always like Exxplorer. Not sure what genre you would fit them into, but more techincal than I usually dig. Especially Symphonies of Steel. I have worn out more copies of that cassette, and dl'd my cd copy and played the heck out of it, for 25 years. GREAT NJ prog [or pre-Power Metal, whatever]!

I really liked Riverside when they weren't Tool/Porcupine Tree. Might see how they're doing with this one.

I've tried Riverside a few times but nothing has really clicked for me so far, I'll give the new one a listen when it comes out, maybe it will finally be the one that converts me. Or maybe not...

Have you tried the singer's side-project, Lunatic Soul? Might be of interest to you:
There are three albums, and each one is brilliant. (Which reminds me, I should probably finally buy them. I downloaded them when the third one came out.)

That's how I feel about most threads around here. With unemployment and future job prospects, I'll be lucky to get through 20% of my wanlist in my lifetime. And that wantlist continues to grow by leaps and bounds every year.

Riverside and Porcupine Tree diverged moons ago. Riverside has always had a bent toward Floyd and have run with that though by no means are they clones and you can hear many other influences as well.
S.D. have you listened to Riverside live? If it doesn't draw you well, you can't be helped.

Causemos.
The singer for Before the Dawn pimped these guys a while back, and they're great. They're like a progressive death-metal band, or technical death metal, whatever you want to call it, like Athiest, etc. You can download their debut EP, Infinite Event, on Bandcamp as a "pay-what-you-want" download.

You can also buy a CD version, but it'll cost you a lot on import, and digital version comes with a bonus track. Just download it. It's pretty bad-ass.

I listened to a couple Riverside albums this afternoon and enjoyed them, I'll be checking out more of their stuff. I'd like to see their concert video "Reality Dream", bands like this I tend to get into more if I can hear them in a live setting.

I'm listening to the first Lunatic Soul album and already I would say I prefer this stylistically to Riverside. Less metallic and more experimental is more my thing nowadays.
Thanks for the recommendation.
