it sounds so much like an old Misfits song, i had goosebumps. really a great tune. i've always been pretty much a Danzig fanboy though.

His voice sounds great. Is Tommy Victor still doing the guitars?

That sounded bad-ass. I've sorta lost touch with Danzig over the last few releases, but I'd be all over a covers album.
Here's a little bit o' news from his website...
Quote :
DANZIG COVERS CD & SONG PREMIERE & STREAM
DANZIG will be premiering a song 'Devils Angels' from his new Covers CD on Radio Stations in some of the Cities where DANZIG will be performing on this Upcoming Run. It was originaly the Theme song for the late '60's Biker Film of the same Title. DANZIG had this to say about covering 'Devils Angels'...
"I've wanted to record this song since 1979 & this is exactly the same arrangement I had for it back then, so it pretty much sounds like that late 70's style of mine. I'm really happy with the way it turned out, it actually came out much better than I had hoped it would. We're going to be playing it live on these Upcoming Shows."
Check your Local Station for Premier Times.
DANZIG is currently in the Studio Finishing up & Mixing his as of yet Untitled Covers Record set for Release Late Summer/Early Fall of 2012. We will be streaming 'Devils Angels' here on the site shortly & in the weeks to come will be posting a Track Listing for all the Songs

Very much with a Misfits vibe indeed. Maybe he misses the old days. Anyway, this if far better than any disgraceful smurf poo 'The Misfits' have been releasing in the past 10 years.

Thought the same thing when I heard it the other day. I got all nostalgic and made a Misfit mix for the truck. Haha.

Bump for new info...
Quote :
Glenn Danzig is in the studio working on an EP of Elvis Presley covers. A tentative early 2015 release is expected.
DANZIG's cover version of the the classic Lee Hazelwood/Nancy Sinatra song "Some Velvet Morning", featuring a guest appearance by Cherie Currie (THE RUNAWAYS), was made available for streaming last year. The track was supposed to appear on Danzig's covers album, which was also due to include Glenn's renditions of classic songs from BLACK SABBATH, ELVIS PRESLEY and ZZ TOP, among others.
Danzig spent time in the studio in February with DANZIG guitarist/bandmate Tommy Victor (also of PRONG) recording three new tracks for the next DANZIG album. As of six months ago, Glenn had five new songs in various stages of completion.
So does this mean the full album of covers is off and we're just getting an ep of Elvis tunes?

Bump for some vague information on 3 upcoming releases...
A new studio album from Glenn Danzig's namesake band is set for a fall 2015 release, and his long-awaited covers effort is due in March. He is also working on an EP of Elvis Presley covers.

I am most interested in that EP of Elvis covers.

Sounds like he and his band - are kinda struggling to find their idenity - jam warm up things - for kicks - material - Imagine though Gene Simmons singing his version of ' SomeVelvet Morning ' - or Type O Negative not that, with Danzig, it matters now - not for die hard fans - Fans appreciate him still ! I think the first 4 - 5 Danzig releases are great - strange ground breakers - not duplicated by others I'm sure they still put on a wild concert - and these tunes would still easily work in the set list -

I was a big fan originally but lost interest after the original band members jumped ship and Glenn started experimenting with industrial sounds and sampling. I understand he's gone back to basics (guitar, drums, bass) on his last few and I've been meaning to check them out, just never got around to it.
I'm definately interested in hearing both the Elvis ep and the covers album though.

Like MG, I was huge Danzig fan til right around the time of his/their 4th album and the original band splintered. I did not buy any of his albums but kept up with his career. It would be nice to see him have a bit of a career revival

I remember hearing Danzig's "Going Down to Die" and thought that it really established itself well as a piece of 21st century classical music. I hadn't heard something so elegant and with an andante done so exceedingly well since CPE Bach.

There comes a time when a 60-year old man must take an honest look at himself and say, "Maybe I keep my shirt on for photos". Now is that time Glenn.
I still dig 'em though and look forward to this album. I wish they'd confirm a release date though. First it was "fall of 2015". Now it's just "November".
