The Wicker Man ( 1973 version) - a movie I knew quite a bit about but had never actually seen. Prett good flick. Plus a young hot & nude Britt Eckland dancing and singing around !
Hyenas (2011) - not too bad a flick. Decent story but lousy CGI

One of my favorites, providing you saw the complete uncut version. The more common cut is around 88 minutes and is widely considered inferior to the complete 101 minute cut. Anchor Bay released a box set about 10 years ago that included both versions, but sadly I think only the shorter cut is currently in print.

"It Came From Beneath the Sea" (1955)
A giant octopus, disturbed by undersea H-Bomb testing, rises from the depths and attacks San Francisco. Fortunately the U.S. Navy is prepared with giant nets and explosive torpedoes!!
Charming retro 50s cheapie fun featuring cool stop motion creature effects by the great Ray Harryhausen.

Freddy, I highly recommend watching "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms" and "20 Million Miles To Earth", my two favorite Harryhausen films from this era and both hold up beautifully to this day.

I saw "20 Million Miles..." about a year ago, enjoyed it immensely. I am pretty sure that I saw "Beast..." years ago when I was a kid, wouldn't mind checking it out again sometime.
Turner Classic Movies had a good line up this afternoon... before "It Came From Beneath the Sea" I caught the tail end of "The Blob" and after it "Dr. Strangelove" was on, so I recorded that to watch later.

Yeah it was the shortened version available On Demand. I'm curious to what they had cut out. I'll have to investigate.

"Phantoms" (1998)
Fun, schlocky sci-fi/horror based on the Dean Koontz novel, in which a pair of sisters and a sheriff battle some kinda huge ancient Lovecraftian evil thing that's taken up residence under their small Colorado town.

I was looking on the internet concerning the actors. While Sigourney Weaver has aged real well, the other woman (who's the same age) has definatly not. While I din't realize it at first, the guy who played Ash is the same guy who played Bilbo in Lord Of The Rings.

Say what you will about Mark Wahlberg but he's great in this film.

I love the Count Yorga movies -they're great fun horror movies I first caught on late night TV.
Robin Hood (Rid 'n' Russ version)
Also watched Lightning in a Bottle, a fantastic concert/documentary on the blues.
"Dr. Strangelove, or How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb" (1964)
An insane U.S. general directs his bombers to attack the Soviet Union in Stanley Kubrick's cold-war black comedy, and the U.S. president (Peter Sellers, in one of three roles) and his generals have to figure out how to stop Doomsday before it's too late.
As usual for Kubrick, it's weird and quirky on purpose but a fun watch. Sellers is great, as is George C. Scott as a Commie-hatin' general and Slim Pickens as a redneck pilot.
Tesla's video for "Modern Day Cowboy" uses a ton of clips from this movie!!
