Steve Rowe discusses the new Mortification CD: "Scribe Of The Penateuch" is well on its way in mix. I heard the final mix of opening track "Extradiefor" yesterday and it sounds world-class! With Lincoln Bowen's return on Guitar and Mark McCormack's genius mixing and production, I think this release is going to be our best sounding yet. Mark has thankfully come out of Band Production retirement to do this for me. Thank You Mark! "Extradiefor" is Massive Brutal Death Metal! It also sounds very modern!! So fans of Arch Enemy, newer Carcass and even As I Lay Dying will love this song! The second song on the Disc is called "In Garland Hall". It is more Brutal Viking-Style Extreme Metal and so fans of all Extreme Metal styles will love this one!
"The Jaws Of Life" is very reminiscent of 1991 Mort. Brutal Thrashing Death! The title track is a mix with some massive surprises and some Killer Blast-Beats! I think I am most excited about this song!! "Weapons Of Mass Salvation" is Death/Thrash with a tinge of modern black metal. I do quite a few Immortal style Vocals here and there with most songs, along with the deep Death Metal vocals. So if you have ever heard Immortal, you will know what I mean here. "The White Death" is Doomish but with plenty of Morbid Angel style speed mixed in. If you have heard Morbid Angel then once again you know what to expect. I hate Immortal and Morbid Angel's lyrics but no doubt they are at the top of their fields musically.

Arch Enemy, newer Carcass and As I Lay Dying = Massive Brutal Death Metal
Oxymoron?

Every new album that Steve is promoting usually comes out as the "most brutal" Morty album since who knows when. He always tends to compare the sound to some trendy or well established bands in some way every-time that is the furthest thing from their sound. I would appreciate it if for once he said this sounds like what Mortification should sound like rather than drop names like Arch Enemy, Carcass, As I Lay Dying, Immortal, and Morbid Angel. That being said, it'd be cool if there was a recording to hear.

Thought this was pretty 'brutal':
I have a feeling the new songs may be in a similar vein to this, as this is a fairly recent song and as close to death metal as the band has come in a long time. Regardless, I always look forward to new Morty.

Gee, that album title sounds strangely familiar. I'm sure that was unintentional.

I think he's wanting it to be Scrolls Part Two, which fans have been clamouring for... for about the last 20 years! Let's hope it delivers.

No way in the world it will sound like Scrolls or PMA. The newer stuff isn't bad but it's a different band.

How can you know that without hearing a note of it? Steve did write a lot of the material on those early albums.

Yes, the title is suppose to reference Scrolls of the Megilloth without actually being Scrolls of the Megilloth Pt. 2.

It would be nice if they made a whole album of "Razorback" type songs.

I wasn't writing what I did as a knock but I don't think Steve really wants to sound like Scrolls anymore. I could be very wrong here so maybe i'll be surprised.

I wish Steve the best, but let's just say if it resembles Immortal or Morbid Angel in the slightest, I'll be very, very surprised.

Actually, he has stated that he does want this album to be the Scrolls sound, thus the name being similar. It's suppose to be a return to the death metal and thrash of those first three albums. He is even using the old classic logo with the skulls and the old "Total Thrashing Death" logo on the cover and inserts.

I always thought "Total Thrashing Death" would be a cool name for a Morty album, I don't know why Steve never used it for an official release. He could have used that one on the Goblin album, it would have fit well.

As a matter of fact, he even went so far as to have the producer of Scrolls produce the new CD.

Doug Saunders produced the Scrolls album... Mark McCormack is listed as the producer for the new one.

Looks like Scott is part of this album and it comes out on April 1st, my birthday:
Welcome to March to all my fellow Priests Of The Underground! March is an exciting month as we head towards the 15th Mortification Studio release "Scribe Of The Pentateuch" in just 1 month! Yes, April 1st The CD will be available!!! Also the entire 1st Mort show back in 3 years and 4 months will be up on YouTube! The 1st show back went well! We supported the mighty Pegazus at The Central Club here in the Melbourne central suburb of Richmond. A Great Metal Venue that has now become the Home Of Old School Melbourne Metal with Metal Gigs on most Fridays and Saturdays. We performed 5 new songs from "Scribe Of The Pentateuch" and 5 old songs - Brutal Warfare, The Destroyer Beholds, Hammer Of God, Scrolls Of The Megilloth and God Rulz!! More info next month. I am also hoping to have Full Studio Versions of both The Title Track and The Jaws Of Life up on YouTube by April 1st. Check YouTube Mortification2010's Channel late this month!!
Also this month we officially welcome Sherri Ross as The Manager of Mortification and Wonrowe Vision. Sherri is now also The Official Rowe Productions Promoter. Any contact regarding Mortification, Wonrowe Vision and Rowe Productions should be sent to sherri@roweproductions.com
We also welcome The Best Christian Death Metal Band In The World ANTI DEMON from Brazil to The Rowe Productions roster!!! Anti Demon will Record their 4th release in 18 Years in May! Bassist/Vocalist Batista and his wife Julianna also Pastor Crash Church Brazil in Sao Paulo. Anti Demon are a full time Missions Band and have toured extensively in Central, Latin and South America and also a large number of European Countries! It is exciting to be presenting their new Album APOCALIPSENOW which is set for release June 30th!
Mark McCormack and myself are putting the final touches together on "Scribe Of The Pentateuch" and Scott Waters of Ultimatum who is putting together the CD Layout will have that completed by March 9th! The CD is a Delux release with a 12 page Poster Foldout Booklet!! Initially I will release both The Mort and Anti Demon CDs on my label Rowe Productions and also chase European Licensing deals. When sales go well or we receive Licence deals in Europe I am hoping to have both releases on Vinyl Records by years end!! I may look into doing this myself if there is no decent offer on releasing Vinyl in Europe or The US.
All those who participated in the very successful Life Achievement Program and donated $50 or more will receive their signed copies of both "Scribe Of The Pentateuch" and the Wonrowe Vision Debut "Mission Invincible" in April! For those who donated over $100 your BONUS copy of The 2nd Wonrowe Vision release will come somtime next year. Thank You to all who participated!! We are Very Grateful for all of our supporters who help us keep on keeping on!!
The last 18 months has been difficult for Mort but now with Lincoln back in The Band and Andrew ON FIRE on The Drums, I think we have one of the strongest Mortification Line-ups ever! It is great to have the same members in both Mort and Wonrowe Vision as The 3 Of Us are really together on the same page Spiritually, Musically and In Line Vision for the future of our contribution to Evangelistic Christian Metal and Heavy Rock!!!!!
Until The Big Month Of April!
Blessings To All!!!!!
Steve Rowe.
