| Lately I've been discovering Belgian Dark Style Ales (BDSAs in the vernacular). My current favorite is Trois Pistoles. Should be available everywhere as it's a Canadian import.

If you like it, it's the first step. Sam Adams was my "gateway beer" to snobbery. And in the past 6 months I've gotten a lot worse. Nothing I bought yesterday did much for me. That's not good as the beers that knock my socks off now are pretty pricey.

| When I drank beer and that was over 22 years ago there were barely any exotic beers. All I drank was Old Milwuakee or Schmidt!

Wargod That was me in college. The beer landscape has changed dramatically since then. And Schmidt's was appropriately named because that's what if gave you, the "Schmidts".

Yeah, we snobs refer to beer categories such as "session beers" and "sipping beers". Session beers are ones you drink to get drunk while sipping beers are beers you drink like fine wine, savoring the taste. The higher ABV helps dictate whether or not a beer is session or sipping but you'll find that most of the higher ABV beers also have a more complex taste that lends itself to "savoring" as opposed to "knocking it back". There is definitely a lot going on in the taste of Schlafly's Christmas Ale; most definitely not a "session" beer. Glad you like it.

| BTW, you are well on your way to being a beer snob. Once you taste non-massproduced beer, there's no going back. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
