| Best canned beers? That's an oxymoron. I'm surprised to see Fat Tire makes a canned beer. And even more surprised that FF's precious PBR made the list.

| Broke into my stash from the holidays and opened another "bomber" of Schlafly's Holiday Ale. I don't think the 3 months in the basement has changed it much but this stuff still tastes great. Sorry King, this won't be available at your store; it's not distributed outside the St. Louis area. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Tried a new beer style last night. Schlafly's Barleywine. One word: Bleccccchhhhhh!!!!!!. Sure it's almost 12% ABV but between the alcohol taste and the fact that it was aged in oak barrels, the stuff tastes like fruity bourbon. Cross that one off my beer snob list. | |

Yeah, I tried some beer with that contnent while still in Sacramento and it tasted like rum and coke that had sat out overnight. _________________

Yeah, I tried some beer with that contnent while still in Sacramento and it tasted like rum and coke that had sat out overnight. Thing is, it's not the high ABV that turned me off. I've recently been drinking lots of high ABV beers that "hide" the alcohol in various malts or hops. But this barleywine thing didn't do anything to disguise it's ABV and actually accented it with the oak-aging. One of my favorite beers is "Dragon's Milk" which is also oak-aged and very high ABV. But it's much smoother than this barleywine crap. I'm currently aging several 4 packs in my basement in hopes that Dragon's Milk will "mellow with age" and lose the harsh alcohol edge it has when it's fresh. Reviews say it does. That barleywine crap just tastes awful period and I don't think aging would affect my opinion.

| Now drinking Schlafly's Quadrupel Belgian Ale.
Belgian Ales are my new style du jour and this one packs a punch. 12%ABV but you'd never know it; it just tastes like a Belgian Ale. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Yuengling is a decent "session beer". Too bad it's not available here. I last had it when I visited my brother in Lancaster County, PA a long time ago. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Had Augusta Tripel Belgian Ale last night. I need to taste it side by side with Schlafly's version to see if there's much difference. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
