Biff Byford (SAXON) and Sebastian Bach (SKID ROW) are among the musicians who will make guest appearances on "Dee Does Broadway", the new solo album from TWISTED SISTER frontman Dee Snider. Bach and Byford recorded their contributions yesterday (Monday, October 17) at Matt Sorum's (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N' ROSES, THE CULT) Drac Studio in Los Angeles.
In a recent interview with Goldmine, Snider stated about "Dee Does Broadway", "I'll preface this by saying, no, it's not metal. I'm taking Broadway show tunes and I'm making them rock. It's sort of a 'Twisted Christmas' taken to Broadway. But there are some pretty metallic moments there, I'll tell you. 'Sweeney Todd' translates into a metal song amazingly — bass, drums, guitar — so some of the songs are really metallic, but it's a rock record. I'm doing it as a solo artist."
Dee previously said that it was his personal hope for "to bridge the gap between Broadway and rock 'n' roll and introduce the hard rock audience to the amazing music of the Great White Way!"

Nah, no thanks. I'm good.

Pass on anything he's been involved with since You Can't Stop Rock n' Roll.

It's worth a shot if you don't care about art and are just interested in sales.
A lot of people enjoy stuff like Wicked and how else can you get females to buy something with him singing on it? That's half the world's population and a huge untapped market who tend not to go on Blabbermouth and nitpick every nuance. Add on the TS die-hards and it has to sell more than another TS album or a solo album.
I'm trying to predict what his next move will be.

Probably a very smart move as I'm sure some Broadway producer will then put him in some show. Bach got a pretty good run doing broadway shows at one time. My mom is still a fan of his because of it.
I don't think I'd buy it, but the concept isn't too strange since most of todays "show tunes" are really rock based musically. I honestly can see Dee pulling this off.

Anything to make a buck. How else do you propose people make a buck in the music industry these days? Music sales? If tomorrow Twisted Sister released the greatest rock album ever recorded, they wouldn't make money.

Agreed.
I actually don't propose that people make a buck at all.

I might give this a shot.
Really how far is this from something like Savatage's "Streets" album? Or any of the TSO releases?

Its funny that some people think he's doing this for sales...nobody is going to buy this and Dee knows it. Eyesore is right...it could be amazing and nobody would buy it.

How did his Christmas album do? Did it get him some spots on late night talk shows that he wouldn't have otherwise gotten? Did it get press?
Once again, all relative to what another by-the-numbers TS album would've received ....

TS Christmas album, Strangeland, Growing Up Twisted, Rock of Ages, Van Helsing's Curse... I don't see what's wrong trying new things. This is worth looking into, for sure.

This won't make much, if any money, and if it does end up making him a few beans, good for him.

I think it sounds interesting. I don't know about you guys, but I'd rather hear him putting an original spin on some of these tunes than just cranking out some bland, formulaic metal record.

ToB is create this album will bust open the charts and become so successful, that Dee Snider's bank account will swell to the point it will make Bill Gates fortune look like chump change.

Have you seen his house on MTV's "Cribs" or his reality show? I don't think he's doin' this for the beans, he's doin' fine by himself.
I'm sure he was paid handsomely for the use of "We're Not Gonna Take It" in a PMS drug commercial, and for allowing "I Wanna Rock" to be rewritten as the "Goofy Goober Rock" song in the SpongeBob Squarepants Movie.

I did and I bet he made more money from that Spongebob movie in those 5 minutes of screentime then he has in his 30 plus years of Twisted Sister.

I'm not necessarily opposed to Dee Snider being involved. He can do whatever he wants to make a buck. I just have no interest whatsoever in Broadway music, no matter how good it might be or how "rockin" they attempt to make it. There are plenty of genres of music that hold little-to-no-interest to me. This is one of them.
Just like Lou/Metallica album, I just can't see a time where I want to listen to a souped-up version of this...

He's also got a writing credit for a song on Celine Dion's Christmas album (yes, really) that sells a few zillion copies every December so I'd say he can pretty much do whatever he wants, like this Broadway album, and not worry about record sales....
