| I just started my membership, and I was wondering how many of you have gotten CDs without the artwork? | |

99.9% of mine incoming CDs have had at least the front art. I'd say at least 95% of them have had the front and back art included. Of course, if you set your preference to accept artless CDs you'll probably get more CDs than most of us, but they'll likely not include art a lot of the times. |

I spose I could trade off artless CDs anyway... Thanks for the response!

Thanks for the response! You can, but seriously, lala only guarantees the CD, so you can actually send an artless CD to someone whose preference is to receive at least the CD and artwork. But you'll get suspended eventually, and it's just a dickhead-like thing to do. I recently had the same trader do it to me twice. It's really annoying and there's no integrity in doing that. Not saying you would, of course. |

Make sure you set your preference to "art only". I've never received a CD without at least the front cover. I'd say 8 time out of 10 I get the front cover and the tray insert. If I really want the tray art, I just add it back onto my want list and trade off the other copy.

Some people don't care about the art, so they just put the CDs into those CD sleeves and throw the artwork away.

I've actually been at CD stores and seen people walk out of the store, rip the shrink wrap off the CD then throw the artwork and jewel case right into the garbage outside the store and walk to their car with only the CD left. For a while we had a used CD store here that would buy CDs without the art and try to resell them with laser printed covers. I never would buy them and let the owner know it. What a rip off. The store eventually went out of business. See ya!

| My friend has a collection as large as mine, and all his CDs are in Case Logic booklets. A few years back he started giving me boxes of jewelcases and back artwork (he keeps the booklets) every few months or so. I don't get it, but it's worked out for me with lala, because twice now I've gotten a CD without back art that I actually had because my friend had given it to me. |

You don't happen to have any ZZ Top inserts do ya? I'm missing the insert for a ZZ Top's First Album. I'm also missing the insert for Y&T BBC Live. I have a bunch of inserts without CDs as well that someone gave me. I'll have to list them here for you all, in case you need them. ult

| LaLa traders have been driving me nuts lately.....I had good luck with the first 30 or so but the last 6-8 have only had a 50% tray art rate!! I ask the traders why? and they say what others here have said....they don't keep the tray art!! FOOLS!! I'm about done with LaLa.... | |

| I just took mine of vacation mode. I'll bet the SYL - The New Black cd that is on it's way doesn't have the back insert. Most likely a demo too. |

I've never understood this sort of thinking. Sure, it's annoying as hell, but you're paying $1.75! Yeah, and a CD sent out, but most of us either trade out CDs worthless to us, or CDs bought for $1 or $2 in a used bin. Even if you have to go and request a CD a second time through lala just to get the back insert, you're still not paying as much money as you would for the retail version. It just doesn't make sense to me to quit using the site. |

Demo? You mean promo? It shouldn't be; they haven't gone live with that yet. Do you guys send messages to the people sending you CDs? As dumb as it sounds, some people don't include the back insert because they don't think they need to. They just toss them. When someone agrees to send me a CD, I first check thier blurbs/blogs to make sure they have no message stating they always send back/front art. If they have no blurb or blog, or are undisclosed, I send them this message: Hello. If you haven’t packaged this up yet and have the back insert could you please include it? If it’s easier, I don’t mind if you fold it in half. It fits easier and doesn’t get as mangled (as it sometimes can). Thanks, KenI offer them the option of folding the back art because a lot of people seem to have trouble fitting the back art in the envelopes, especially the new ones, which some people, even a 209er, claim can be smaller, making it harder for the insert to fit properly. So I tell them they can fold it. This way if you get some irritable assclown sending you a disc, he won't just chuck the back insert if he's having issues fitting it in without folding it. Maybe he'll fold it and send it off. Most come without being folded, but some are folded. And the crease is pretty much nonexistant. I'd rather folder back art than no back art. |

You see, my cheapies were long ago traded away....the ones that I trade now cost a little more and I send mine with great care. My sort of thinking is if I'm gonna fret about not getting the back tray art maybe I should stop using LaLa instead of getting PO'd all the time. It's true that it's only $1.75...but it's $1.75 + an $8-10 CD with ALL art...so the thought of getting out is mostly to spare myself the rage I feel when I don't get the tray art. It may be an 'anal' thing, but it drives me nuts....

Lala works, I think, if your source for trade fodder is free or very cheap. |

| I quit dealing with LaLa only buy new from them now. I want all the art work with the cds I get, just doesn't seem right to only get half it's like only wearing one sock with your shoes on! As far throwing away the artwork and only keeping the cd it doesn't make sense to me, why not DL the dam thing or have someone burn it for you. I like my cds in jewel cases and alot of them are limited editions so some are either in digi form or digi books! To me it seems more profitable to keep the cds and art together! Wargod48 | |
