Wratchild. Murders in the Rue Morgue, Innocent Exile, Purgatory, Drifter...It's a solid album from beginning to end IMO. I know most people think that, just look at the poll results. But to me, this album contains more fillers then killers (pun intended). I think it comes down to this, the "Killers" album was DOMINATED by Steve Harris. Granted, he's always going to dominate the song writing role, but on this album, Di'Anno took a back seat (as he had ONE writing credit), and everything else was Harris's baby. I've always been a fan of collaboration, and there just wasn't that on this album. It doesn't mean the album was bad, as I don't see it as a weak album, but I feel it's weaker than both the S/T and Number of the Beast.

| I think "Killers" is a killer record... but i had to vote for Diary of a Madman because it's Ozzy's best solo record and Randy rules!
My next choice would've been (Van Halen - Fair Warning).

Just reinforces my opinion that High N Dry is one of my 10 desert isle albums. It is a good album and one I need to listen to again.
Listened to it a few days ago, and yes, it is a great album.

| I must have been the only metal fan in the 80's that did not care for Triumph, just never cared for them, I had 'Alled Forces' 'Rock n Roll Machine' and even had the horrid 'Thunder 7' which was the final straw for me, I like alot of bands that are similar and lot that are way less talented then Triumph were/are but could never get into them. | |

| I was never more than a casual Triumph fan. I used to dig when "Magic Power" or "Lay it on the Line" would come on the radio or MTV but I never owned any of their records. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I've never been a big Triumph fan, but I loved that Allied Forces album at the time. The heavy mid-section of the song Ordinary Man still makes me want to jump around the room and headbang.

Triumph always hit me as a poor man's Rush.

Funny, I saw it the other way around as Rush never really did much for me.

| I'm going with Killers, although Welcome to Hell is a close second. Another favorite from 1981 is Praying Mantis - Time Tells No Lies. | |

| I put in a vote for Raven, with everything else in close 2nd place except Krokus, who take 3rd.
Disappointed to not see AC/DC "For Those About To Rock" or Blue Oyster Cult's "Fire of Unknown Origin", and would have liked to have seen Vardis' "The World's Insane".
Very disappointed that Girlschool's excellent "Hit and Run" isn't in there, or the greatest live album of all time - Motorhead's "No Sleep Til Hammersmith".
Best pure NWoBHM album of 1981 is Holocaust's "The Nightcomers".

| Iron Maiden - Killers
as it was the only band I listened to from back then on the list.
I still remember the thrill I had one late night hearing a live song with Paul Di'anno getting the crowd to sing part of a POLICE tune, maybe in the middle of Running Free ? argh! I wish I could remember! maybe it was a radio only promo? from Maiden Japan?
The other fave of that year, close runner up was - Ted Nugent - Intensities in 10 Cities. They used to play the song "Land of 1,000 Dances" on Q107-FM every day for months!
EDIT: found my answer Iron Maiden - Sanctuary http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=2380 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9Q0_xRqdck 'Drifter' is one of those songs that is at its best when played live, and often features the audience-interaction part of the show with the familliar "yo yo yo" routine which is supposed to make fun of The Police's song 'Walking On The Moon' that was a very big commercial hit at that time.

| I just listened to "Spellbound" for the first time last week. What a great album, and it definitely would have been album that I loved back in my teenage days. | |
