| Too many to choose....... I discovered a lot of these bands while watching MTV.
Saxon - Princess Of The Night will always still be one of my favorite songs.
Judas Priest - Heading Out To The Highway and Hot Rockin' were the first JP I heard and Loved what I heard.
Def Leppard - Let It Go.... What more could I say.
I didn't know Raven until the Live At The Inferno release.....

| Wow! I really didn't expect Def Leppard to give Iron Maiden a run. Surprising. High n Dry is a GREAT album though. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

my favorite by them.... the guitar thing that Leppard had with Willis/Clark was kickin off big time on this record. "Let It Go" has so many hooks in it, amazing album. (IMHO) the kicker that put Maiden over the top for me is Adrian Smith arrives. _________________

But the best is HIGH N DRY!

| Wow, another tremendous year. I love Mob Rules, and Point Of Entry holds a very special place in my heart, but in the end, it came down to High N' Dry and Fire Down Under. For me, Fire Down Under gets the nod. | |

| It just dawned on me that 1981 was the year MTV first went on the air, and that was the place where I first heard Judas Priest, Saxon, Iron Maiden, etc.
...holy cow, I've been a metal head for THIRTY FREAKIN YEARS!!! _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Wow - GREAT year for music and VERY hard to choose. Diary and Mob are FANTASTIC albums, Fair Warning is amazing.
Everyone knows what a HUGE Maiden fan I am, and Killers is a fantastic album. The addition of Adrian Smith to the band added a new dimension. The addition of Martin Birch as producer helped form the band's sound.
BUT....... I had to think about which album did I listened to the most back in the early 80's. I was more likely to reach for Piece Of Mind or The Number of The Beast before playing killers, which knocked it down just a tad...
Also had to think about how these albums have held up over the years. Killers still hold up very, very well and is a fantastic album. Not as good as the one to come after or the one before it, but still a freakin awesome release.
I ended up voting for the one I have listened to the most and I think still holds up as a awesome release - nary a sign of filler anywhere on it, so I chose Def Leppard - High N Dry.

| I'm surprised but High N Dry is a groundbreaking album. I'm also surprised Ozzy is getting no votes. |

| It's a knock-down, drag-out fight between Def Leppard & Iron Maiden. Who will win in the end? Stay tuned for the exciting conclusion. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| The results in these polls never turns out the way i think they will when i first look at what we are voting for. I`m surprised DL gets a single vote in competition with all those great albums... Of course High N Dry is great, but up against Killers, Mob Rules, Diary, Denim and Leather and Point of Entry ??? Oh well, at least the members of this board aren`t predictable, and the poll has made me revisit some of these great albums | |

OK, thread-crossing here, but does anyone remember the Circus or Hit Parader that had pics of Iron Maiden Vs. Def Leppard in a soccer (football for you Europeans) match?

| Despite only knowing 5 of those releases, I went with Killers because it is one of my top 5 Maiden albums and one of my favorites of all time. | |
