Centurion - directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers). Brilliantly bloody chase-flick with the remains of the Roman Ninth Legion running for their lives from the local Picts. I'm usually not a big fan of these types of movies, but Marshall knocks this one clean out of the park.
Beautiful location photography in Scotland and enough gore for about 15 horror movies makes this one a winner.

That sounds good; I really like Neil Marshall's work.
In fact, I watched The Descent in blu-ray last night. Still a great flick! I've been thinking about getting a blu-ray version of Dog Soldiers too.

"Hidden Agenda" - pretty poor espionage tale starring Kevin Dillon (Matt's less famous brother) as an American who goes to Berlin when his brother is killed. Turns out his bro was working for the CIA, and he had some important computer discs that some bad guys want. Said bad guys now assume said computer discs are in Kevin's possession so they chase him and some cute blonde chick all over Germany, blah blah blah. Technically well made, but very talky, slow moving and dull. Yawn.
here's the only YouTube clip I could find from this flick. I'm not even sure what language this is in...the film I watched was in English anyway.
For some odd reason this movie was included on a 4-Film "Sci-Fi Collector's Set" DVD, even though it has absolutely no sci-fi leanings whatsoever. It's a straight up spy caper flick.

Despite a good soundtrack, the movie doesn't look all too great. I think Will Ferrell should just throw in the towel and call it quits.

Well, I liked it and I liked Ferrell's last movie, The Other Guys. Some actors just don't settle too well with some people which I think is your case.

Block of cartoon movies:
The Secret Of NIMH Finding Nemo Kung Fu Panda Up The Emperor's New Groove (my favorite non-Pixar Disney movie-probably wouldn't have been the case had they not catered so much to the little girl and musical crowd for so many decades)
I know, a 31 year old man with no children watching cartoon movies may seem sad and pathetic to some but I enjoy them and they aren't just for children (they also appeal to children in their 30s ).

"The Punisher" (2004) Slightly more faithful to the Punisher comic character than the 1989 version starring Dolph Lundgren, but still a Punisher flick in name only. At least he's wearing the skull on his chest this time. Setting all of the action in sunny Florida (?) was not a great idea, as Frank Castle is a New Yorker and has always been an urban jungle kind of guy. The side plot of Frank's doofus neighbors trying to be nice to him and get to know him was irritating too.
On the other hand, when they blow sh*t up in this movie, they blow A LOT OF SH*T UP and John Travolta has a nice turn as the villain.
A decent action flick in its own right, but so far I'd say that Hollywood has yet to properly translate The Punisher to film. Maybe they finally got it right with "Punisher: War Zone?" I'll have to get to that one sometime soon.

Hey, I'm a 50 year old man with no children and I still watch some cartoon movies (Monsters Inc, Ice Age). Not to mention owning all the Looney Tunes in a 6 volume, 24 disc set.
And...right now I'm working my way through the Ultraman Tiga series; a Japanese show aimed at kids.
Helps keep you young...

Rented Grown Ups last night. A pretty good flick with a good cast (and Salma Hayek looked hotter than hell);funny in spots but it has a predictable plot.

"Evil Breed: The Legend of Samhain"
Goofy little splatter film that can be summed up in one sentence: "Porn Stars vs. Cannibals."
A bunch of American tourists (including Jenna Jameson, Chasey Lain and Taylor Hayes) are taking a trip thru the Irish countryside when they meet up with a tribe of flesh chowin' inbred mutants who look like the members of GWAR. Stabbings, impalings, gore, bare boobs, and extremely bad acting follow.
Don't bother renting this one strictly for the porn gals, cuz they all have fairly small roles (except for aging '80s adult video queen Ginger Lynn, who plays the caretaker of the cottage our tourists stay at -- and who apparently keeps forgetting that she's supposed to be an Irish woman in this flick, cuz her Irish accent comes and goes throughout the movie. Haha.) Absolutely ridiculous, but oh so much fun to watch.
Apparently this movie was supposed to be a VERY over-the-top, out-and-out gore fest but it was subject to massive editing (against the director's wishes) prior to its release. (Uncut versions of a couple of the gore scenes are included on the DVD as bonus features and yes, they are suitably yucky.) There's still a decent amount of blood & guts to be had, but it's merely a hint of what might have been.
But hey, if you've ever wanted to see a porn star get one of her silicon breast implants ripped out of her chest by an inbred cannibal mutant, this is your movie!!

Oh yea, as a straight up action/revenge film I liked it fine, it just didn't seem much like a "Punisher" movie to me, if that makes any sense.
