If you like Blind Guardian (the classic era) check out The Storyteller's "Tales From A Holy Quest". It's about the Inquisition.

As for the subject, I'm gonna go with: INTRUDER - "Psycho Savant" ANTITHESIS - s/t DEADLY BLESSING - "Ascend from the Cauldron" SCREAMER - "Target: Earth" FAITH FACTOR - "Against a Darkened Sky"
I'll second that Faith Factor, that is a great US-style power metal album. Ski is a wonderful vocalist.

more like I said, check my other post also
the second Gonin-Ish album.. haven't heard the first one, but this one is sort of like Cynic collided with a bunch of Japanese music and Derek Sherinian.
amazing AOR/hard rock with sheens of Maiden and Royal Hunt.....really nothing bad about this record...fans, you will know who you are..
Old school American and European death/thrash collides with doom and tons of atmosphere, bookending with a cool Bulldozer cover. HOWEVER this is just an EP... I recommend this one because of the excellent production, but as for a full album........IF you can get into a really dirty, not quite as explosive production...then this one is recommended also:
Of course you could just pick up their new one and you'd be good to go too.

A cross between Scorpions & TNT (both 80's material), some power metal, and a dash of Dream Theater, amazing songwriting. Second one is really, really good too but not really as an introduction like this one is..the second one in places is massively ambitious melodically speaking and just flies over your head the first few times on those songs..

My buddy played me a couple albums by this band called Brainstorm the other day. I never heard them before, theyre from Germany. They play basically traditional heavy metal with thrash/power metal tendencies and even though they werent doing anything new or original as far as groundbreaking, they do what they do almost perfectly. Those who love the old Dio and Metal Church style would love this band to death. Anyway, my friend told me nobody knows about these guys but they are awesome.

I think there's a lot of Brainstorm fans here. I'm not much of one but I think their earlier stuff is the better share.

The Dogma
The Dogma mix elements of metal, goth and symphonic metal with a lead singer who sort of reminds me of Geoff Tate.

also, I guessed correctly that this band was Italian, only an Italian or Spanish band would have Engrish like that.. falls ON the grave? Clumsy chick!

I've been aware of this band for a number of years thanks a few other blogs reviewing their albums. Which songs/albums do you think sound like "old Dio"? I don't hear it. Anyway, try as I might, I cannot get into this band. I seem to be one of the few people that's aware them AND doesn't really care about them.

I have Metus Mortis and Soul Temptation.
Never got Liquid Monster, I've read some bad reviews, but I see it's offered with a bonus DVD. Why do you think it's their best? How does it compare stylewise to the two I have. Maybe I should get it.

I think Liquid Monster is probably the catchiest thing they have done. It is heavy, memorable, great chorus parts and Andy sounds great.
on a more self-serving note - I have an extra copy of the regular edition if your interested. Got it from SACD right after I buoght my copy..

I think The Angels got pigeonholed with their Marseilles song and then turned out to be different.
As for Brainstorm, I think it's all good but Metus is my favorite.

I think there are some Rage fans hanging around but as their discography is pretty big, some stuff tends to be the least talked about:
the one before this, 'Black in Mind', is one of the ultimate ones to get from them, but this one is not a bad slice of heavy/power/thrash in itself. A couple too many songs but some gems in here.
Speed metal with screechy vocals and 'that' feel which only the 80's really has, and some progressive flourishes popping up here and there a'la Fates Warning...not much in between 'amazing' and 'mehhhh' with the songs on here, but there are more amazing ones.
