How come everywhere it says it's going to be from 1978-1992 but the cover Ult posted says it's from 1978-1991? Just curious.

Interesting - my theory is it runs until 91 since revenge came out in 92 and Vol 3 will include revenge, the kiss conventions, reunion tour, psyco cricus tour and farewell tour

According to a posting on KISS' official web site, there will be three different limited-edition "fourth bonus discs" in the initial pressings of KISS' new box set, "Kissology: Volume Two". Retailer details are not confirmed at this time. The shows to be featured are:

* Capital Centre – Largo, MD – 7/7/79 (Dynasty Tour) [track listing forthcoming, though ALL four solo albums songs will be included]

* Budokan Hall – Tokyo Japan – 4/21/88 (Crazy Nights Tour)

* The Ritz – New York City – 8/13/88 (Crazy Nights Tour) featuring:
"Deuce"
"Love Gun"
"Fits Like A Glove"
"Heaven's On Fire"
"Cold Gin"

"Kissology: Volume Two, 1978-1991" will be released on August 14. It is the follow-up to KISS' DVD box set, "Kissology: Volume One, 1974-1977".

Guitarist Tommy Thayer, who took over Ace Frehley's role in the band, told Billboard.com, "It's fantastic that Volume One of 'Kissology' has done huge numbers, but does it surprise me? No, not at all. This is KISS in its early raw form, four guys with the hunger and fire, aspiring to take on the world. All this great footage is finally available and it's exciting."

Featured on Disc One is a 1978 news special on KISS, a 1979 interview with Tom Snyder, and the European theatrical version of the TV movie, "Kiss Meets The Phantom of the Park" (titled "Kiss in Attack of the Phantoms").

Disc Two includes promotional videos, the late Eric Carr — who replaced Peter Criss in 1980 — performing at an Australian concert, and live renditions of material from the very un-KISS-like "(Music From) The Elder" among other item.

Disc Three examines KISS' comeback in June 1983 at one of their last shows in makeup, in Rio de Janeiro, plus their unmasking on MTV and some performance footage from the "Lick It Up" and "Crazy Nights" tours, along with a complete 1990 Detroit show.


I want the Largo show

I'm still waiting to see who will have these bonus disc versions. I
have read that Wal-Mart might be one of them. They had a bonus disc
version last time.

I might be buying this just so I can finally have "KISS Meets The Phantom" on DVD!! My old VHS copy is on its last legs. Awful movie of course but I still dust it off once a year or so and give it a spin.

Anybody have any idea what differences there might be between the "European theatrical version" included on this DVD and the TV Movie version that we are familiar with in the U.S.? Perhaps some extra/extended scenes? Maybe some behind the scenes footage of Gene reading the script and dropping the F-Bomb when he realizes what a turkey the movie is turning out to be?

It is a cheesy movie, but I like it. Must be nostalgia.

Oh yea, don't get me wrong, I love it too, it's "so bad it's good," especially after a few beers. There are so many quotable lines in that film:

Four days until the release. VH1 Classic has a shortened hour long
concert form this set playing a few times this weekend and it is pretty
sweet looking. It's the Sydney show off of disc two I believe, the Unmasked Tour.

Yep - I watched it last night, along with the special - I will be hitting best buy on Tuesday to pick it up (along with Madden 08)

I saw the Sydney concert on vh1. They also had an hour long special with Gene & Paul showing highlights and talking about Vol. 2. That was pretty cool.

Since we're talking about KISS, I have a question about the currnet line-up. I know Eric Singer sings some of Peter Criss' songs live, but does Tommy Thayer sing any Ace tunes live or does he just play guitar?

No. They don't play any songs that Ace sang on. They also don't do the smoking guitar solo, or any of Ace's signature tricks.
