That's an objective list off the top of my head, not my personal faves. I'm sure I left someone that should be there out. I'm not a Zeppelin fan anymore really, but like the Beatles you gotta give them their props for their contributions. It's interesting to see how Metallica has slipped. I never got way off into Bruce era Maiden, I wasn't that into music in the mid 80's; I was more into sports. I listed Malmsteen because he's been a huge influence on Scandinavian Melodic metal, and the shredder phenomenon also. I also feel Slayer is great but a little over-rated. I like prime era Testament better. I love C.Frost, but they haven't been consistent enough. Same with Amorphis. If you don't feel Zeppelin, Purple, and UFO are metal, then you can add Slayer, Testament, and Frost.
