No Jake would never go back. He was asked already to rejoin and he said no.
To me its time for a change in Ozzy to be OZZY again. Never liked much with Zakk on guitar and his damn pinch harmonics are used way too much! IDIOT! I welcome the change!

I dont thing Gus would do it, I just don't see him giving up the control he has to be in Ozzy's band. The only thing would be the exposure. Do you think Jake would even go back?
He would still have 100% control of FIREWIND...the Ozzy gig would be for $$. He could go back to FIREWIND after...
I've heard nothing to substantiate anything...I only saw "Greece" and thought "Gis G."...

I think it's safe to say that at this point in Ozzy's career, any guitarist that takes the gig is just doing it for $$ and possibly for some exposure for their other projects. The odds of them "discovering" a new talent that becomes a phenom are really slim in this day & age.
As Spec kindly pointed out, Ozzy and any new music he puts out are pretty irrelevant at this point. What are the odds of him having a hit rercord? Sharon is just looking for someone to lay down some tracks so some writers & studio engineers can piece together another album and she can put Ozzy back out on tour, where they'll play all the "classics" anyway.

Believe it or not, Black Rain was Ozzy's highest charting album to date. Why? I have no idea. But it was.

How long did it stay there though? This is all speculation here, 'cause I have no facts or figures to back this up, but let's say, it debuted in the Top 10 week 1, then plummented to #120 the next, does that count as a hit? Big acts are always gonna have big opening numbers due to rampant fan-boys such as ourselves, but when word gets out that it's a clunker, the sales drop like a sack of wet cement. And honestly, how many tracks from Black Rain are gonna go down in the books as "classics"?
EDIT: Here's an example...According to Billboard, Dream Theater's newest release debuted at #6 and now it's dropped to #46 in just 2 short weeks. Another week or 2 and it will probably be off the charts. So is it a hit? By traditional definition I guess it is. But will it have any staying power or become a classic?

No idea, I couldn't even make it through the entire album when I tried to listen to it.
As far as album sales, it was declared Gold in the U.S. In this day and age that's still pretty respectable considering there are so few platinum releases these days.

Yup...that's the only reason to do it...the per show fee the guitarist would get would set him up fairly nicely over the course of a world tour...he won't come out a multi-millionaire, but he'd come out comfortable.

Because he happened to sell more copies that particular week than those below him...could have been 15,000 records (not a lot by Ozzy standards). Black Eyed Peas could have sold 14,999 copies that week and Ozzy would have "charted" higher than them...doesn't mean anything.

Gus G.?
Ripper found out he was out of IE this way...I would not put it past Ozzy (Sharon) to not tell him...
The hot Blabbermouth rumor is that Gus G. will be performing live with Ozzy at the Blizzcon(sp?) Festival later this month. Zakk is still proclaiming not to know anything and seems to be getting mighty pissed (and rightfully so) that Sharon/Ozzy won't talk to him about it and tell him upfront.

If I was Zakk, I'd tell Ozzy to piss off anyway. Sharon has a long history of backstabbing anyway. Piss on Ozzy & move on.

I like Gus G. a lot. I'm a big fan of Firewind and I think Gus is a real class act is certainly deserving of a gig with Ozzy.

Ditto.
Here's hoping the young guitar phenom can inject some life into the zombie known as Ozzy.

Gee that's something you don't get everyday I hope Ozzy doesn't recruit John 5 he's a crap guitarist he completely ruined Rob Zombie's latest album. With Zakk leaving I couldn't care less he seems to be more focussed on BLS these days and I actually met him 3 years ago at a signing and I gotta say he is a complete f...wit the few things I credit him besides his musical talent is he slagged off Fred Durst and Nirvana .

Eh, if it gets his name out there and helps him sell a few more cds (or downloads on itunes), why not? I've heard the name, but I'm not familiar with his work or other bands at all. Working with Ozzy will get him alot more publicity in the States. But I can see your point. Why bother hopping on that sinking ship?

That's a great idea in theory, but I'm afraid it's too late for that. At this point in his career, I think Ozzy's music has taken a very distant backseat to any other project Sharon can come up with (tv shows, commercials, video games and touring). Sharon (or the record company) will hire a bunch of outside song writers and big name producers, etc., to piece together a "hit" record. Gus G. (or whomever they go with), will be told pretty much what to play, lay down a few solos, then learn the classics so they can go out on tour. End of story.

John 5 is a ridiculously talented and technical player...but I don't always like what he does with it.

Gus G is a really interesting pick, don't know if his songwriting will work well with Ozzy.
Same thing with John 5. Seems like he makes sense as a pick because he has been a pro and been on a career upward trend in recent years, I could see him ending up in Ozzy's band.

That John has already done time with a variety of artists, k.d. lange, David Lee Roth, Two, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson to name a few.

John 5 is the worst choice for Ozzy. Gus G would be a great choice I think.
