Tom Gabriel quits Celtic Frost?

From Blabbermouth... is it really possible to say he "quit" his OWN band? Does this mean CF will go on without him? I can't imagine any CF material sans Tom G. would be particularly well received... weird.

TOM GABRIEL FISCHER Quits CELTIC FROST - Apr. 9, 2008

Swiss avant-garde/metal pioneers CELTIC FROST have released the following statement via their official web site:
"CELTIC FROST singer and guitarist Tom Gabriel Fischer has left CELTIC FROST due to the irresolvable, severe erosion of the personal basis so urgently required to collaborate within a band so unique, volatile, and ambitious."
It was reported earlier in the year that CELTIC FROST was putting together an album tentatively titled "Monotheist Companion" that will feature unreleased songs from 2006's "Monotheist" sessions and rearrangements of tracks from the album. The disc is tentatively due in the summer.

That's nothing new. Remember when Dave Mustaine "quit" Megadeth because of his arm injury?

Well the band is essentially Tom G. and Martin Ain. I suppose Martin Ain will carry on?

Monotheist was a great record to go out on, though.

This is a shame. But hey Sevendust has a new album coming out!

Well yea, but Dave out-and-out said "Megadeth is done" at the time. This is just "Tom quit," nothin' about the status of the band. It just sounds odd.

But then, "odd" is Celtic Frost all over anyway...

Wow this is total crap they just got back together! I dont even understand why he quit haha. The band cant go on without him that would just not make any sense. I was really hoping for another album since monotheist was actually pretty good.

I'm pretty sure Dave said "I quit" which then lead the rest of the guys to say "Well, I guess we're done then too." I betcha the same thing happens with Celtic Frost. If Tom quits, that will essentially be the end of the band. I'd bet dollars to donuts that he won't let anyone release any material as Celtic Frost without his approval.

OK guys, I updated the Celtic Frost Wikipedia entry. All is well now.

it's sad they couldn't make it work, but if Sepultura can go on, so can Celtic Frost. Ain even did some vox on Monotheist, so it could still work.

Hellhammer never reformed, they just re-released some stuff & had a book out or something.
