What SPORTS Did You Watch Today? - 2017

Good win for the Pirates.

I was watching Christopher Russo's "High Heat" show on MLB Network this morning and I think he accurately summed up my feelings about the Cubs.  He said something like "Isn't their time to bask in the glow of the 2016 World Championship over yet?" 

I still don't hate the Cubs (except for their manager) but I really am sick and tired of hearing about this dynasty they're supposedly going to establish.  So I'm happy every time they lose.

Watched the Penguins beat the Blue Jackets 4-1 to take a 2-0 series lead.

Well once again the Cardinals looked like a little league team; tons of walks, throwing the ball all around, letting pop flies drop in, etc.  And as usual they tried to come back but fell a run short again.  Lost to the Yankees today 3-2

I got the Pirates at Cubs game on. The Pirates have inexplicably come back from 3 runs down to take an 8-6 lead in the top of the 7th. Hopefully the bullpen can blank the Cubs the rest of the way.

Go Bucs!

And let me know of Maddon makes excuses in any post-game interviews.

I was just checking the box score on that Pirates game.  They're trying to hang the loss on that crooked-hat-wearing goof Strop.

Damn, just as I was typing that MLB Network showed the Cubs HR.  C'mon Pirates!

I can hear it all the way over here:

That's all they got. Final was 8-7 Pirates. And that was a cheap home run by Bryant in the bottom of the 9th

Now watching UFC on Fox.  Four hours of UFC fights from Kansas City. 

I'm learning to really love this sport.  I used to hate it when the combatants went to the ground but the more I watch the more I've learned that's where a lot of the damage is done.  Plus I think competing in MMA is a LOT tougher physically than my other favorite combat sport boxing.

The Pirates beat the Cubs again today!

But tomorrow it gets serious.  The Pirates are in St. Louis to play the pathetic little league team masquerading as the Cardinals.  Let's see if St. Louis can stop walking people, stop striking out and stop throwing the ball all over the place....I doubt it.

It was great watching the Pirates sweep the Cubs. The Pirates only won one game in Chicago last year. This was a very satisfying series!

Don't worry Toho. The Pirates have a disturbing trend going on this season. They get swept by the Red Sox, sweep the Braves, get swept by the Red and sweep the Cubs. They're due for getting swept again and the Cards are in the prime spot.

I highly doubt it. The Cardinals have looked TERRIBLE so far this season, throwing the ball all over the field. And the bullpen has been a dumpster fire. The only team playing worse is Toronto.

Even if the Cardinals somehow manage to get a lead, they just showed the team bullpen ERA is 7.36 - worst in MLB - so don't give up hope 007 if the Cardinals miraculously have a lead.

Nice to see the Cardinal fans cheering Freese.  I told you, this guy will never pay for a meal here again; he's a folk-hero thanks to the 2011 World Series.

Freeze has been spectacular for the Bucs. A great pick up for them.

I think it's cool that 7 years and 2 teams later the Cardinal fans still revere Freese.  Hell, he STILL does commercials for IMO's, a local St. Louis pizza chain whose pizza is absolutely the worst I have ever had. He even starts the ad by saying "I know I don't play for St. Louis anymore but..." and Cardinal fans love it.

Geez, neither team is doing much offensively.

ESPN must have cut some deal with St. Louis. They've shown an awful lot of the Cards already.

No way. I've had a bad feeling about this game/series all day. No run support for a decent pitching effort by Nova.
