Well, it wasn't great, but it's not bad. Better than the stuff they released from Youthanasia onwards. I think "Washington is Next" is pretty catchy. |

Way to score! I love finding brand-new stuff in the used bin. Wish it would happen more often... I got lucky with UNITED ABOMINATIONS too cuz my friend is a reporter who received a promotional copy about a month before the album's release, then last week the label sent him another one for some reason, so he gave me the extra. It's good to have connections.

| Wow! I dont get it. The new deth totally smokes! The riffs and guitar work is damn well outstanding on this! The songwriting is solid. This is the best thing Ive heard since Rust In Peace. It isnt Killing Is My Business but then there will never be another one of those but it is miles above say Risk. | |

| After 3 spins I give it a solid B+. It aint rust in Peace 2, but I think it's pretty darn good myself. The DT disc is solid also. I scored the new Motorhead in the same store 2 weeks before it was released, we have a local DJ that gets them & burns them & trades them off, thats okay, I'll keep snatching them up. | |

| This album totally kicks ass, but i have got one gripe. Dave speaks too much during the songs introductions, sorta strays away from the music. But other than that, the solos rip, Daves vox are killer, and Megadeth is in tip top shape. Cant wait for Gigantour. FUCKIN A! |

| Only song I thought borrowed riffs was the second song, where it sounds like the same notes that Adrian Smith plays on Wasted years, although the arrangement is a bit different.
However i think the album is great. |

| I think it's great as well....Dave doesn't get enough love as a vocalist...he's no Jorn, Rob Rock or Dio but his voice is the voice of Megadeth.... | |

| I think the reason Dave doesn't get a lot of love as a vocalist is because whilst recorded, he usually sounds pretty decent and fitting to the music, live he's very hit and miss. His voice goes high and nasaly at random, it's odd. But yes, vocally United Abominations is great - really reminds me of Youthanasia in that respect. _________________ | |

| Well I think it's a great cd! I don't know how you guys can hate it so much! It's METAL!!!!!!!! I just love the fact that Megadeth had a falling out in the past (Risk.... ) but they've gotten back onto the metal horse and are riding it into the sunset! I'm just glad I was able to pick up the cd at Wal-Mart. But seriously! The cd is great and Megadeth shows that even though some bands aren't playing metal anymore, THEY will. I'm SOOOOOOOOO glad about that because I hate it when a great band sells out and plays sucky music. Megadeth RAWKS!!!!!! METAL!!!!!!!!!!!!! As for Metallica's new stuff, I kinda like "The New Song" (look it up on Youtube) somewhat. Although the song won't be on the new cd, I heard that some riffs might be. And as for their next cd being too produced and clean...well, I'd PREFER to hear it NICE AND CLEAN after hearing St. Anger. I think there's some good stuff on St. Anger (I'm listening to it now), but the production is bad and the songwriting was DEFINITELY cut and paste....plus, where's the solos guys? It was supposed to be Metallica going back to being heavy and aggresive (and while it is plenty heavy and aggresive in many places) there's no solos. I just wish they'd go back to METAL. I'm not saying make another "...And Justice For All" or something, but SERIOUSLY, they need to look long and REALLY CLOSELY at Megadeth. Regardless of whether you like Deth's new stuff, it's metal. I just hope Metallica sees that and decides to go back to making some thrashing metal again. At least (please Jesus) don't let Lars ever make his snare drum sound like that ever again! It sounds much better when it doesn't sound like he's playing those Jamaican drums with the multiple tones....CRAP why can't I think of what it's called!?!?!?! And don't downtune so much Metallica! I want definition. I think that on some of the St. Anger songs, if I wanted to learn how to play them, I couldn't because the notes mix together too much. But seriously dude...use NORMAL snare drums on this one. Ones that sound good, not ones that came out of a kid's playset or something. | |

If the production is bad, songwriting is bad and there are no solos, what does that leave as "some good stuff"? Generally speaking, aren't those 3 things most people look for in a good metal cd?

OK, I'll admit, I sort of like the song "Frantic". The production sucks, but I think the song is decent and I think it's the most honest vocal performance from James since Kill 'Em All. Please don't ban me from posting here now.

And I think the next Metallica album will be great if they just write naturally. They've apparently gone back to the way they wrote songs before St. Coffee Can. I know everyone likes to hate on Load/Reload, but I personally think those are killer albums. Maybe not appropriate releases under the "Metallica" name, but they're really good rock albums. And that was the band just being true to themselves. St. Anger was the opposite, at least musically. Agreed totally. That being said, I totally dig UA and am also looking forward to Metallica's new album. |

| The more I listen to this the more I like it. It's a top 2-3 Megadeth album for me! What a return to form! Sobriety has its rewards.... | |

| It's not the best thing I've heard this year, but it is by far not the worse thing I've heard (come to think of it, I haven't heard anything I don't like this year yet). I've only listened to it once along with That One Night but with more listens, I'm pretty sure I'll like it more. I will have to agree with Ultmetal on his review for À Tout le Monde (Set Me Free), I liked the origional but this new one left me hitting the skip button. Definatly not A-list material. By the by, I also got my copy at a used CD store (one man's trash is another man's treasure, I guess). | |

| I like the new version of A Tout Le Monde but it just shouldn't be in the middle of the album. It should be a little bonus at the end. It just doesn't fit. One of the actual bonus tracks, Black Swan, as vaguely merry as it is, would have made far more sense on the album. _________________ | |

I agree. Still a "solid" cd, though. I've been spinning it all week and I still dig it. Quick story. I was listening to United Abominations in work and a co-worker asked who it was. I said "The latest Megadeth, came out a few months ago." His says "Isn't that guy all saved now and super religious?" I said "I guess so, but listen to the music. I don't care what he does in his personal life, as long as the music's good". His reply? "Yea, I guess you're right, sounds pretty good."

Upon further listening, I must say I was wrong about À Tout le Monde (Set Me Free). I don't know if my ears were not working well at the time or if my mind was occupied with something else but it is not a bad rendition of the origional. I still think Lacuna Coil is overrated, but her voice is a lot better when not fronting the, IMO, boring music of her band. I am really liking this album the third time and am willing to call it thrash (borderline). The guitar solos are great and Dave's voice is in top form (keep in mind that I was a casual fan up until now). This could very well make my top 20 list this year.

| I always liked that song and people slagged it off a lot. it was not like the woman from lacuna coil sings a lot of the song. i think its an effective remake. of course it was a roadrunner commisioned remake | |
