When you continue to refer to my band as a parody band...dude, that is being mean and nasty. On top of all that, our angle was that Bon Scott got saved...so we had the daunting task of writing lyrics that sounded as if Bon would've actually written them after getting saved.
That is the very definition of a parody band! uh-huh yeah-eah-eah uh-huh yeah-eah-eah later...Cliffy _________________ http://www.steinhausmastering.com

| Jim Morrison is probably Bon Scott's b!tch right now. But seriously Cliffy, the songs sound great. Might have to buy it. | |

| Let me propse this to you, Jim Morrison comes back from the dead as a devout Buddist. If I were to write an lp based on that premise w/the music sounding very much like The Doors, I would be laughed to scorn by both fans and credicts, regardless of how well it was written. This only flies in CCM universe. | |

| I had planned on recording a CD of several covers and one original. I have the lyrics written and a basic idea for the melody on the original. The problem is getting the other guys in the band on board, hell I can't even get them to help book or promote shows for the tribute! | |

| My post from Rock Island: - Quote :
- I really like the new MLR. I liked the first one
too, but like this one much more. It has that same sound that bands like Broken Teeth, Rhino Bucket, and early Dirty Looks and Krokus had. I don't see it as a blatant rip-off, but rather they are going for that same sleazy AC/DC inspired sound that some of those other bands have also gone for. Cliffy has never been ashamed to wear his influences on his sleeves, and willingly admits that he is trying to get a certain sound. I think he achieved that sound on this new CD...
It's rock and roll, it's not friggin' rocket science. Make the music you like. Listen to the music you like. There are no hard and fast rules that you have to create the newest sound to be "creative". _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| Oh BTW, anyone heard The Tea Party? MAJOR The Doors influence on some of their stuff. I have several of their CDs. I can't remember which one right now, but this description reminded me of that CD..."Jim Morrison comes back from the dead as a devout Buddist." _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

The best Doors tribute band I ever saw was the one with Ian Astbury singing. My point being this...Figure that is different than what Cliff is doing because of what ? Having two original band members in it. They took the elements of something else and presented it in another form of expression. They were trying to live today off the merits of yesterday, that is a parody in itself. My observation is that you find more parody in the gest of Bon coming back "saved" than the style or melody presented by the band, Mainline Riders. | |

Great description! The Tea Party albums "Splendor Solis" and "Transmission" do sound like The Doors with a Middle Eastern vibe. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Look, I think it is done well, but I also believe it to be a parody band. Like I said, this will only fly in the CCM universe, because it's all justified under the ruse of "ministry." | |
