| Anyone heard Main Line Riders? Modern day sleazy rock n roll with a slight punk delivery.
According to their press release: **For fans of AC/DC, Hanoi Rocks, Guns-n-Roses, Veins of Jenna, Buck Cherry, and Poets & Porn Star.

Let me know what you think of this band. They are label mates of Ultimatum.

| I found the CD a little underwhelming. It's not "bad"...and it's along those lines (AC/DC, Buckcherry, etc)...but something about it just didn't click with me. Some of it sounds out of time (probably caused by the mix)...the vocalist doesn't quite "sell it" either...like his "attitude" is contrived...that's my problem with the CD as a whole...it's not bad, but it doesn't ring genuine... |

| Doesnt sound too bad, The intro to the song Throwin bones to the wolves reminds me of the intro to Stone Temple Pilots Wicked Garden other then that its better then a lot of the popular bands that play that style.
ULT u ever hear of the band Airbourne from Australia they are the modern day Ac/Dc

I'm not a fan of any of those bands...but they are better at this style than MLR are...I'm sure with time MLR can catch up, though... Again, the MLR is not a bad record...but it's got a little ways to go to live up to the bio... |

I'm not a mainstream guy and when i hear a Jet song everytime i turn on the radio or a Buck Cherry song it makes me like them even less..

| Not too bad. Not something I would listen to very often but if I could get their album at a low enough price I'd pick it up. | |

| Guitarist Cliffy Powell (a.k.a. Cliffy Huntington) got his start in the mid-nineties with the punk rock band The Huntingtons. Never had a chance to hear the Huntingtons. Heard they had a killer Ramones sound.
I like this, so far. I've only heard the CD once. I'm not hearing the AC/DC connection much. I hear more of the Buck Cherry connection. I also hear some punk mixed into their sound, which only makes sense seeing as how Cliffy came out of The Huntingtons. If this is the direction modern rock is going, I may be able to get into more modern rock. At least it has hooks, melody and some good guitar playing. I wouldn't mind hearing some more guitar solos worked into the songs.
I'll give this one another listen tomorrow. Thanks for the opinions. Any others? _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

- Good stuff! Thanks for the tip. They have a "dirty" bar band sound - which is good - kind of a Buckcherry, Breaking Point type sound to me. I like!
Somebody else wrote this: - Quote :

I will have to check it out... however... the names Buckcherry and Jet have me worried already. To which Cliffy wrote this: - Quote :
- I'd be worried, too...we REALLY don't sound like those bands.
Well, enough people keep bringing up Buckcherry that I guess I wasn't too off line. I maintain - I like it and it's on my "want" list. Shawn Of Fire......I put it on my "want" list about 18 hours after our trade else I would have snagged it as well!!!! I curse my own name!!!

Girder had that 50% off sale after Christmas!!! I failed to pull the trigger on that, the "D" KMG Weapons/ST, and River Disturbance!!

| I like it. I would mention BUCK CHERRY only in reference to the modern sound the production adds, but I hear alot more Sunset strip sleaze ala SMASHED GLADYS and early LA GUNS than anything.....and the JUNKYARD cover is spot on....
I wll admit I wasn't sure about the vox at first but after repeated listens it works....While it sounds nothing like HANOI ROCKS and very little like AC/DC, bios often miss name check in a feeble attempt to hook folks in Hell, had I not seen HANOI or AC?DC mentioned and only BUCK CHERRY I would have never popped it in....
I guess I am a minority, I Love it!!!! _________________ "Oh man, I need TV? When I got T Rex"

| It's the unlisted 10th track "Shot In The Dark" oiginally done by JUNKYARD, a sadly underrated southern blooze sleaze metal band of the late 80's.... _________________ "Oh man, I need TV? When I got T Rex"

| I gave it a good, LOUD spin while driving to the gym in my mustang. Heard the entire CD. I do hear some AC/DC influence here and there. I also hear a bit of the GnR influence, especially in a couple of the melodic guitar solos. Buck Cherry, for sure, but not a carbon copy at all. I was also thinking maybe Beautiful Creatures. There is something much more modern to it than AC/DC, GnR, Faster Pussycat or any of the bands they list as influences. There is almost a punk-like delivery to the music and the production screams "modern rock". I'm starting to get a good feel for this one. I like it. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| Christian Sleaze band, ya gotta be kiddin' me. Joking!
I spend many hours splitting hairs over bands like these, believe me. The whole recent trend/loose style of the 80's sleaze glam 70's punk crossover of which this band are a part of whether they want to be or not falls flat to say the least. This style ranges from the great (Silver, Trashcan Darlings), the good (Black Halos, Stereo Junks), the okay (Towers Of London) the bad (Hardcore Superstar) and the ugly (Vains Of Jenna). This genre's undisputed classic album Total 13 by the Backyard Babies was forged a decade ago, and unfortunately nothing has matched it since. Anyway the Main Line Riders is somewhere between the bad and the ugly sorry to say. Although gotta give them props for their championing of Junkyard.
And you gotta hate those music label bios that chuck in Hanoi Rocks with L.A. Guns, Faster Pussycat, Skid Row with out blinking an eye. Sure Hanoi is an influence on this band but it doesn't come out in their music. I generally think its a play for credibility or as Shiney suggested a hook for suckers like me who like anything that orbits the Hanoi Rocks axis.

Jet and the Vines are most definately not even remotely close to this style of music. Jet are a band that trades on 3rd rate Faces rockers and 4th rate Badfinger ballads (Although good guys, Nic always willing to sing a Black Crowes or Faces cover with my fav local pub band). While the Vines are a Nirvana meets 60's garage scuzz rock band that got old very very quickly.
