Sorry but that is a very wrong statement. Yes, Petrucci has technical prowess and he wanks away a little too much (moreso in later years) but he can play with as much passion and feeling as anybody out there. He is mostly self taught and is constantly learning new techniques. You might no like him but he is in no way a one trick pony.

I love Dragonforce (except the last album-one of the biggest disappointments of last year) but yeah, the guitar solos are pretty bland and almost indistiguishable from one another.

Surprisingly enough...even Kerry King's lead work can get boring after awhile. He's to drawn into the old school whammy noise as a filler.

I much prefer Jeff to Kerry, he's got more hooks in his leads.

I figured somebody would bring up Kerry eventually. He's got attitude, but he said years ago in an interview that he only knows how to solo in one scale. Jeff is underrated in my opinion.

But despite whether you love or hate their solos...they fit the sound of the band, always have.

Kirk Hammett: Good riffage/Shite solos.

Dave Murray: although he is my fav guitarist, his style is very legato-based, and all of his solos are like that. But his style is undeniable and you know it's him as soon as he starts to play.

I really don't understand how Petrucci is falling into this one-trick-pony category...the man is incredibly diverse. Maybe it's because of the last few DT albums (which all kind of run together)? But the first 4 DT albums show without a doubt that Petrucci is a player with several tricks up his sleeve. If anyone in DT is a one-tricker, outstanding chops aside, it's Mike Portnoy.

And I agree about Zakk Wylde...he can't play 3 notes without "SQUEEEEL!!!"...gets irritating.

OH, and I haven't seen the ultimate one-trick pony mentioned...
