Maybe we should do a thread with a list of bootlegs and photos attached?
Well, I was searching the ebay and I found this -

As you can see, it was "released" by Speed Attack Metal Series - Russian (not 100%, though) CD-R bootleg. Don't know how many albums did they cover, the only other one that I've seen was the second Mandator album.

At least Vendetta and Artillery albums should also exist in this version - I was buying some stuff from a Russian guy cca. 2 years ago and he was saying that all of it are original pressings, but was fair enough to say it just before sending money, that they are just well done boots.

I also believe that I've gotten Cyclone - Inferior to None bootleg CD - the disc looks slightly different as here : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200096370396 + the seller thallos81 wrote in his latest auction "beware of the boot". Well, gotta see the CD again, but if I remember correctly, the center (the plastic around the whole) isn't totally transparent in my version. However, bootleg or not, it's done in a very professional way!

P.S. - Anyone knows the thrash band Bootlegs? They were from Iceland and released an album called W.C. Monster

There's one guy, nitromusic, who sells a bunch of bootlegs on CDs. Dark Angel - Time Does Not Heal, and the first two Demolition Hammer albums (though I also own the second album on cassette, an official copy). It is very obvious they are bootlegs.

I really kinda hate the whole bootleg trend that has absolutely flooded eBay in the last few years. I am not sure if it is spawned by eBay (not by them, but by people who see eBay as an opportunity to cash in) or not.

I wouldn't mind it so much, if it was made obvious what is what. I may choose to buy some stuff as boots if I and anyone bidding against me knows that they are boots, so the final price is appropriate. But with no knowledge, I find eBay more frustrating than ever.

I just bought that Heathens Rage. Other than the the 3rd demos,
it sounds pretty good. I only paid $8 for it, so it is nice to
have.

While we're on the subject, where did you get that Saxon bootleg you were talking about; the one that kicks off with "The Power & the Glory"?

If you're talking to me, I have a Saxon boot called "Slay the Nations",
and the first track is Power and the Glory. I got it in a trade
many years ago. Couldn't tell ya from who.

Most definitely a boot here. I've got the original, and it wasn't released on "strike force records". It also didn't include the tracks from their EP Straight From Hell, which has never seen CD release.

Well, I have nothing against boots, if its made obviously. But all the stuff which is booted but looks almost the same as the originals makes the whole collecting thing ... well I can't find the suitable English word for it right now but you know what I mean You know, the ones with the same cat. number and bar code, etc.

Atrophy are Greek bootlegs - silverpressed on cheap CDs (a lot of milky swirls), minimalistic inserts, etc.

Havent seen agony but it is slated to be Greek bootleg too.

Rule of a thumb: almost everything -VEGASCDS- sells listed as "import" is duplicated pro-printed CDRs these days. Anything he lists on Rock-It, Time Warp, Vox Humana, etc. etc. "Import" labels are CDRs = stay away!

I remember a few years ago a friend of mine got banned from Ebay for selling bootlegs. Does Ebay allow it now?

Yeah - it is the number on the inner ring, such as the top photo has
"JR-CD-02-90". In some cases, it is the catalog # (such as the
top photo), in other cases the re-issue #, and with alot of older first
presses, it will conform with the recorded generational history of the
press (how close it is to the original mother disc). If it just
says something like "Cyclone - inferior", it is most likely a boot.
