I was really looking forward to this concert, obviously. I have been waiting patiently for 5 monthes since I purchased the tickets online. I figured there would be loads of people, so I got off work and traveled by train from Soenderborg to Horsens at 11:59 - It was a two-hour train ride, and the doors didn't even open until 18:00. When I arrived at Forum Horsens (the in-door venue of the concert), I saw absolutely NOBODY - The only way I could tell that I was at the right place was the t-shirt stand. After waiting for about 20 minutes, I met a fellow fan who had arrived early - We got talking and had a few beers together. We joked about how we could count the fans arriving, and by the time there was an hour until the doors opened, there were about as many fans as there were guards - They all came rushing to the doors at once after a while, though. Anyway, back to the concert. The doors opened, and we rushed in to get the best places - I got to the very front, in the middle - SWEET
.
Testament were the first up. When they started by blasting out "Over the Wall" (one of my favourite Testament songs), I was blown away! These guys were brutal! - Chuck Billy worked well with the crowd and sounded better than ever - The rest of the reunited Testament (except Bostaph) were fierce and they really did kick my ass. Their set included: (as far as I can remember)
Over the Wall
Souls of Black
Into the Pit (Chuck Billy handed out the mic to me, and I yelled out the chorus
)
D.N.R.
More than Meets the Eye
Practice What You Preach
Formation of Damnation
- I was in awe of this band when they left the stage.....they were beyond awesome!!
After about 30 minutes, Megadeth entered the stage - They were equally awesome, although Dave sang quite far away from the mic, so it was hard to hear him. Nevertheless, they kicked ass!
Set list included
Sleepwalker
Wake up Dead
She-Wolf
Skin O' My Teeth
A Tout Le Monde
Sweating Bullets
Symphony of Destruction
Hangar 18
Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?
Holy Wars
Then came the moment we've been waiting for.....JUDAS PRIEST!
- It was so cool, hearing 3500 people (including myself) chant "Priest! Priest! Priest! Priest!" as they took on the stage and opened with "Prophesy", one of the best songs off Nostradamus. What a song!!
They went directly into "Metal Gods" after the opener and by that time I was already in Heavy Metal Heaven!
They had changed their set-list quite a bit for this tour, and I gotta say it was kick-ass - They included songs like "Between the Hammer and the Anvil" and "Hell Patrol" which made me go completely nuts! Halford sounded as good as ever. His "Sinner" screams comepletely mesmerized me. Of course the whole band was tight, and it was a beyond awesome show. We also got "Dissident Aggressor", "Angel", "Devil's Child", "Rock Hard, Ride Free", "Eat Me Alive" and more. The fellowship of the fans there was also really cool, headbanging with random fans, getting lots of free beer - Just awesome
By the end of the concert I was completely smashed, soaring neck and aching back, but it was all worth it - This show floored me, and I recommend every single one of you members to attend this tour if you get a chance!
