Yep, I resemble that remark.

I went to a very small high school (under 100 in my graduating class...although I dropped out prior). There were about 8 heavy metal fans in the entire school...I was the one that converted most of them...the rest of them I scared off.

I am in the 30+ year crowd for being into metal. It was like '78 when I started my trek into harder/heavier sounds. Never looked back.

This music fills me with power. I can only suspect it does the same to most every one else affected by crunching guitar chords, screaming solos, and pounding drums akin to Zeus' heartbeat! hahaha

People need to know that if they don't get it, they likely never will.


It's not an acquired taste; it's a natural thing. If you don't like it, you never will.

What is and what is not metal is subjective. You might have several people claiming a certain band is not metal and have an equal number of people claiming they are.
