| Huh. Never thought to compare them to Nevermore. Listened to the new CD on the way to work this morning. I guess I've just heard Deliverance for so many years, I don't hear the comparison. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| To me it sounds like David Bowie meets metal. | |

| I am going to give it (the samples) another listen. See, like I said, I haven't listened to hardly any later era Deliverance. So I am thinking maybe my lack of familiarity regarding Deliverance has excluded me comparing them with themselves, and allows me to hear things that people more familiar with the band in question don't hear. Kinda like when I listened to Armored Saint - Delerious Nomad and saw the Alice in Chains similarities.

ack Yeah and a great comaprison, cause I have thought that as well for awhile now. AS and AIC I am reffering to, of course. I love the new D album and think it is much heavier then I ever expected. They out did themselves this time. |

| Ult, I as well thank you for that post about Jimmy. We're all on different lanes of the same road, so to speak. Christians want their 'heroes' clean and spot free! I always thought Jimmy was hysterical myself. I met him at several gigs they did with Soldier. Hope this disc is good. I stopped listening after "stay"... Gary Lenaire, Dale Thompson, Roger Martinez, Jimmy, Doug Pinnek.... only God knows their hearts and minds. We all have stuff in our lives that is impossible to explain to other believers without some sort of condesending eye. The Church is a hospital of wounded, angry, hurt people who sometimes forget that they only thing that seperates them from the world is Jesus. Not anything they did..... I'm not proud of my past , present or future on this planet.... Thank God I've got the power and help of my creator if I chose to let him work in me.... God bless... (the pastor goes back to his corner......) | |

| I am definitely in the camp that does not care for the "Bowie" era Deliverance.
Initial impressions of the new disc. Musically its exellent, very heavy, plenty fast in spots. Vocally, several songs do take a page from the "Learn" era of Deliverance, but not totally. There is really only one song, "As Above, So Below" that is reallly heavy on those type vocals. The rest is a mix of jpb2 vocal stylings that works really well. All things considered, I'm pretty pleased with the new D. Not their best but certainly very good.
Dont be totally turned off by the Learn comparisions if you were not a fan of that era. It certainly is there, but not as prominent. | |
