| If anyone has this cd... what is the lyrical direction on it? Anything comparable to any of their other cd's? | |

| I got mine in the mail today and will be checking it out here soon. I havent read the lyrics or anything, but as I can see in the "thank you" section many Thanked God...I was suprised Jimmy didnt, but since he makes an album completey about God I guess the message is clear anyhow |

| I run one of the Deliverance myspace pages and Jimmy ACTUALLY posted all of the cd for me to dowload so I can put the songs on the myspace profile! It's actually pretty sweet. There's a lot of the vocal style from River Disturbance and the music is really quite heavy. Some good solos and all and there are some tracks where they really speed things up a bit. It's a little bit Stay of Execution somewhat. Not so much Weapons though. HOWEVER! It's still a REALLY cool cd! Lot's of double bass parts. I just wish the bass drum didn't sound like a click like it does. Other than that, the production is really nice and I'm sure that listening to the ACTUAL cd will sound even BETTER than just the silly mp3's. (It always does sound better, noticably better to me!) If you just CAN'T STAND anything past Weapons Of Our Warfare, then you won't love this one, but it's still a much more METAL album than they've been in a LOOOOOOONG time. It's seriously a really cool cd I thought. | |

| Yeah i wanna check it out. I'm curious about the lyrics because of the strange things that some of the former christian metal artists are saying now days. | |

| When did JPB become former christian? Or am I reading that wrong?
I know his denomination has changed a bit or maybe it is more pronounced then before and he may not be withholding his opinions about things that others may find risky. But I never heard him to denounce himself from God.
People like Gary Lenaire are the ones that suprise me. Martinez from Vengenace Rising was no suprise to me at all. Then there are others like Brides lead singer (who no longer beleive in the Devil or something like that....crazy). Jimmy as far as I know doesnt denounce God at all. I think he allows himself to be a Christain with the idea of being able to enjoy things like secular music (Bowie). He is focused on God as far as I knew. Although he calls God Yahweh, which is a name for the Almighty. He has even explained why he does.
(brief explanation, and maybe not exact but the general idea - JPB belongs/ed to The Church of Yahweh, which I think is the hebrew word for God. If he types God, he types it G-d. Reasons behind it is that denomination follows the hebrew belief that we are not worthy to say God or even write it, but as humans we should call him Yahweh. It is historically a tradition and practice, but not all churches may follow it)
I could be wrong, so dont take it as sticking up for him but do you know him to have said something that makes you consider him a former christian artist?
As far as lyrics goes, I think the larger theme here on this albums talks baout the many beleifs out there to the same God, and actually he mentions false gods as well. How we all argue over what is right and wrong. How some are falsely lead. How even with a scientific mind (those who need concrete evidence, see or feel it in their hands) it can cause any Christian to question what they beleive, but he understands that and if you cant share his faith then at least not fight. Respect each other, but for him he has faith in what he knows is the truth. This is my opinion of how the lyrics read. JPB is a balsy kind of in-your-face guy, stubborn and strict to his thoughts, he knows the bible well and molds it with todays life. Like what he has to say or not he will still say it.
Musically and lyrically it is all very strong. |

Dale is a Universalist Christian. He doesn't believe in the existence of 'eternal torment'. He believes that when Jesus died he died for all humanity and thus all humanity will be reconciled unto Him. I don't know where Jimmy stands, but I don't think he is part of the Church of Yahweh any longer (as far as I know). I'm pretty sure I read that in a post of his recently on the CMR. Here is a recent quote from Jimmy Brown: - Quote :
- I have admitted that I began to study QBLH (Kabbalah) almost 9 years ago and
that I researched my family roots in Judaism...
I admitted to making very good friends with a Rabbi who founded The Church of YHWH 7 years ago, and that I sat under his teachings for a few years...
I admitted that I went through a period of doubt in regards to "the faith once delivered to the saints" and that I questioned the validity of the work of the modern church...
I also admitted that my family has a long history of spiritism, occultism and Santeria and witchcraft and that even though I was a Christian, I was always fascinated with these practices...
I also admitted to when I experienced a drug problem WHILE playing in the band Deliverance and that the band went thru a phase of non stop partying and what not...
I admitted that I drink alcohol on occasion and smoke cigarettes...
I admitted openly that more than anything, even though I am married to the most wonderful woman in the world to me that truly is my soul mate and we have been married for 19 years, I still have the wandering eye and love to look at and flirt with women...
I have never hid any facts from anyone who simply took the time to write me and ask anything of me...
I have also never understood why it matters so much to some people how or what I do in my life... I don't ask you what you do with your time in your bedroom, in your school or workplace, or what is going on in your heads and if you struggle with thoughts of suicide, homosexuality, bestiality, incestual thoughts or acts between cousins, drugs that you use in secret, booze you hide in your garage, etc... etc...
But yet, ALL of these questions HAVE been asked of me over the years!!!
Why???
If you are a Christian, are you no more important than me??? Are you less then me??? Am I less then you???
Just because I am in a band that central message is the hope and grace of Jesus Christ doesn't make me more of a person to place on a pedestal, or that I have to live by harsher standards then the average Joe Christian... I am no more nor am I less then any of you who profess such faith!!! I am a HUMAN BEING!!! I HURT!!! I LAUGH!!! I CRY!!! I LOVE!!! I LUST!!! I GET DEPRESSED!!! I FIND JOY!!! I HAVE LOOKED AT PORN!!! I HAVE READ THE BIBLE!!! I HAVE PRAYED IN TONGUES!!! I HAVE HATED PEOPLE!!! I HAVE WITNESSED AND WON PEOPLE TO CHRIST!!! I HAVE BEEN IN BAR FIGHTS AND PUT PEOPLE IN HOSPITALS!!! ETC... ETC...
I am just Jimmy P. Brown II a*k*a James Peter Brown Jr. a*k*a James Peter Braunstein a*k*a Peter Braun, and my personal favorite: "That A**hole from Deliverance"...
So my lyrics sound occultic... So my lyrics aren't the usual "Jesus Loves You This I know"... So I didn't make "Weapons of Our Warfare Pt II"...
Can't you read between the lines??? Isn't the English Language so wondrous and beautiful that we can express words and thoughts in so many beautiful ways???
Why is it that Christian's insist on being fed the same thing over and over and over and over??? Didn't God Almighty give us brains to express ourselves in different light??? In new ways??? All while maintaining the centricity of the message of the Gospel???

| Maybe JPB is taking a more laid back approach to his beliefs but he is deffinately not the same as before if you know what i mean. Regarding Gary Lenaire i am reminded of the lyrics of the song "Seared Consciences" by the band Sacrament. In the beginning of the song the vocalist speaks (The spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow decieving spirits and things taught by demons, such teachings come through hypocritical liars whose consciences have been seared). | |

| Thanks Ult and Troublezone for some input, I wasnt exactly sure where Gary stood or Dale just remember reading some things. However I am suprised to see JPB's post, esp when he mentions Kabbalah. Which I really dont know much on, but I was always told it is occultish. Dont quote me on that.
I agree with his post about he is just as normal as the rest of us with struggles and even myself I enjoy a beer ("A" being the keyword, I dont get drunk or buzzed, I have a single beer after I cut grass or one with a meal, or one to enjoy, thats it). I watch the show Ghost Hunters on Sci -Fi (mostly cause I dont beleive in Ghosts. However I dont feel convicted of these things, if I am wrong tell me. Just like him, although one thing I think he misses is, when in a band , people will look up to you and expect more, it comes with the business. Get used to it , ignore it, or get out, my sound advice.
Gary Lenaire, I dont know much on him, I tried to speak with him on many different occasions, and although still speaks kindly and seems very nice, he only ever has the same answer. "Buy" my book and read it, you will get your answers there. I wont cause I know the Lord walks with me, carries me, looks over me and my family. Why kick him? Why shake my faith? So I choose to go with where I feel safe. Where I owe my gratitude. So I will never really truly know where Gary stands. Although from the little he has said, it seems like he doesnt beleive in religeon, but he does in God. However he seems to think God is unjust.
Wonder where Guy (lead singer of early tourniquet and also Echo Hollow) stands in this? He married gary's sister and those two were the best of friends.
To get back to the closer point of this post though, I now understand the questioning of the lyrics and former christian metal artist. I will need to study the lyrics closer. |

| Don't forget the original bass player from Deliverance brian something. That dude completely disrespects God every chance he gets. I've seen some of his posts on Jimmy's myspace. | |

| Yeah Gary pretty much seems to have a hatred (maybe to strong a word) towards God now. I am not sure what happened but he says god is unjust because he lets children die. I know that is a turmoil anyone could question if seeing or having to bury thier own child or one close to them or in the family or friends. Something I pray I never will know. I dont know if he experienced that or not, but it seems to be his more closer question about "how can a god be just if he allows children to di.? From there it is a big downward spiral. I have seen his questions, but dont know his answers, cause I refuse to buy the book.
Not sure what happened and was very suprised to see that.

I think he's calling himself and Agnostic now, or perhaps an Athiest. I can't remember which one. I don't think he's gone to the odd extremes that Roger has, as far as getting involved with Satanism and drugs. However, he has written a book that is suppose to be a refutation of Christianity. However, I don't really know him and am just repeating what I have read on-line.

| Ult i think he is going out of his way to let people know he no longer believes in god. I was upset and shocked when i discovered it awhile back but i guess that's just the way it goes. I met him once and he seemed like a nice guy but you just never know what people are going through in their lives. | |

| That was a great post by Jimmy.I remember reading that on the CMR.I think we all are guilty of holding them up on a higher pedestal at times. Why should we expect more out of them than we do ourselves? I think Lenaire claims to be enlightened now. That he has accumulated all this knowledge and now is too smart to believe in God.What a load of crap! | |

| That post by Jimmy was incredible! I dont remember reading it on the CMR. I have exchanged a few pms with him and he is a good guy. Gave me some great food for thought about writing music and going with your heart when it comes to lyrics etc. I have the new cd on the way...cant wait to hear it! | |

| I received the new CD last night. Sounds a mixture of all past "D" albums, sitting closer to the "Learn" and "River Disturbance" sound, than to the thrashier "Weapons" stuff. Haven't really dug into the lyrics yet. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| Listening to the samples of this now at CD Baby. I have to say the first and most frequent thing it brings to my mind is Nevermore, and I don't mean just a little. I am completely unfamiliar with later era Deliverance, so maybe that already was a comparison, but I never see anyone say that.
Sounds pretty good.
