While I'm with you on most of them trying to make a quick buck, a permanent injury is probably genuine.  I think you'd have to be really dedicated to try to fake that.

Oh yeah, for all I know this lady could've been on the level. But if they'd asked me what I thought of cases like these, I would've had to answer 'em honestly.... that it's hard for me to be open minded about them, because the people doing the suing are usually scam artists.
...and such an answer would've gotten me excused from that jury, which would've been fine by me

In other Jury Duty related news, I am officially off the hook now after being "on call" for two weeks...... No US District COurt case for me - I was worried if I got selected, I would be there a long time....

Just got a summons for jury duty on July 15th.

Dallas Black - couldnt find the jury room repeatedly

Would you believe that I got another frickin jury duty summons in the mail this week? Since I just did the Jury Duty thang last last June, I was under the impression that I was off the hook for three years. WTF?

I just filled out their online juror-registration-questionnaire thingy and mentioned that I have already served once in the past three years, which resulted in an automatic message that sez "Your request for a postponement has been recorded. Someone from the court will contact you." Uh-oh. Now I done did it, I made 'em mad.

Almost 35 years old and still have yet to receive a jury summons. Everyone is cooler than I.

Got called to jury duty once back in'92 or so. Heard 3 separate cases and wasn't picked for any of them thankfully.Hell,it's been so long I can't even remeber what each case was about.

I got one a few weeks ago, but I got out of it with hardly any effort. They'd probably even take "I'm jerking off on this day" as an excuse.

Different types of jury duty form what I understand can be called close together. For instance, if you get summoned for county jury duty, you can still get called for city jury not long after, etc. I may be wrong though.

All I know, is that if I ever get called to jury duty I'm lucky. Amazon pays for time missed.

I can believe it - I got two jury duty notices pretty much back to back within one month of each other. The first was US District Court, which thankfully I didn't have to go (The Courthouse is in Arlington, VA in an area with limited parking and insane traffic. I would have to leave my house by 5AM just to make a 9AM court time. And pray I find parking.....)

The second one was for Loudoun County (the county I live in) - fortunately I didn't have to go to that one either! At least the courthouse is closer to my house than my office!

The summons I got yesterday was the same as last year's - for county. So I should probably squeak out of it cuz it sez right on the web site that if you only have to serve once every three years.
