The summons I got yesterday was the same as last year's - for county. So I should probably squeak out of it cuz it sez right on the web site that if you only have to serve once every three years.
Sounds like a fairly easy escape clause for you

I still don't know if I have to report for Jury Duty this week or not. When I received the summons back in Nov. I registered online and told them I'd already served once within the past three years, so I should be in the clear. I got a message saying that my request for a postponement had been received and that someone from the court office would contact me.
...aaaaaaaaand here I am three days from my supposed date to appear and I haven't heard boo. No phone call, no e-mail, no nothin'. WTF? I can't even try calling the courthouse today cuz it's a state holiday (MLK Day) so they're closed.
If I have to actually go there in person to beg out of it I'm gonna be s00per tr00 pissed off!!

...well, that was easier than I thought it would be.
After several unsuccessful attempts at getting an actual human being on the phone at the Jury Management Office this morning, I went to their web page and found an e-mail address for questions/requests/etc. I shot'em an e-mail explaining that I'd already served once in the past three years, and within fifteen minutes got a reply saying that I was excused.
Therefore I am now exempt from the horror that is Jury Duty till sometime in 2016 at least.
Yippy skippy! I shall now do the Happy Cheese Dance!

I got picked - sat there - after the first lawyer got done talking - he was innocent- but after the 2nd lawyer spoke - the guy was guilty ! Went in the backroom had sandwiches and tonics - they went and gave the verdict - so - the case is over , I'm walking to my car - the guy who we said was guilty - was waiting for us - "How could you WTF " - etc glad it wasn't a mob type crime of high importance - I would of switched my vote - lol -

I served around a year and a half ago. I ended up serving on a child molestation case. The guy was accused of molesting his step granddaughter. He claimed he was innocent until his own daughter was going to testify for the state that he had also molested her as a child. He then changed his plea to guilty. We, the jury, didn't have to decide his fate. The judge did it it for us. That old man will end up dying in prison.

The only case I'd agree to be a juror on would be an animal abuse case. I'd hide my real feelings just so I could hopefully help throw the book at the accused. Other than that, I always do whatever I can to get myself disqualified.

Was called up four times in roughly an 18-month span a few years ago. Thankfully have not been notified of it since.

Got summoned for Jury Duty again (I swear the State of New Jersey has me on permanent file or something!)... I have to call the juror hot line after 5PM tonight to find out if I have to report to the court house tomorrow morning. I am hoping that since yesterday was a holiday and it'll therefore be a short week, they won't have any need for my services this time round. Fingers crossed, fingers crossed....

Just tell them about the movies you enjoy watching. You'll be dismissed immediately as mentally incompetent.

I have been called seven times in my life, twice for federal court, but never had to serve. Went to actual selection 3 of those times.

Greetings from my 2nd day of jury duty ... been sitting in the jurors' lounge reading books and playing Tetris on my tablet for most of that time. If I don't get pulled for a jury by the end of today my stint is done and they can't call me again till 2019. Fingers crossed!
...just to be a wiseass I wore my Overkill WHITE DEVIL ARMORY tour shirt today. I figure it might help expedite my exit from the selection process (lawyer: "Do you really want the middle aged mullet head with the skull on his shirt on this jury? I don't.")

I was summoned for jury duty Jan. 3rd. Sat in a big auditorium in an uncomfortable, hard chair for the better part of the day and sent home with $9 for my service.
It wasn't all bad though. During my 2 hour lunch break, I managed to go to a used cd/record store in downtown Philly and pick up a few cds to start off the New Year.

I get to start the new year on jury duty again. I have to report on the first Monday of January (the 7th) Hard to believe it's been three years since my last summons already... would be nice if they'd lose my address for awhile.

Just called the juror hot line and wonder of wonders, my services will NOT be required tomorrow after all. That's a first. Usually I have to report and then I just sit around the jury room for a day or two till I'm excused.
Glad I dodged the bullet this time... but I'm sure they'll hit me up again three years from now, like clockwork.

You sure get called a lot. I've only been called for jury duty twice in 25 years of living here. And only had to show up once.

I've been called every three years since the late 90s. I can almost set my watch by it at this point. At least they skipped me this go-round.

Kind of off topic, but related to your post. Have you seen Don't F*&^ With Cats on Netflix? I saw a trailer for it but really don't think I will watch it. I just don't want to see or think about animals being harmed. Funny how I don't mind watching humans get whacked in a movie but animals bother me. And I don't mind hunting, that's different I'm talking about abuse.

In 2016 I was called for jury duty. The judge remarked about my writing. Or someone else told him to do that.
Telling me I had sloppy handwriting or something similar.
I did not get on jury.
The defendant was abusing his child.

While still living in Sacramento , 12 years ago. I got as far as the interview process in a murder case. I usually got a work exemption previously. The alleged murderer was a definite gang member. He had on a suit, you could still see the big XIV blasted on his neck. He mean mugged everyone that sat down for each lawyer to question and say yay or nay. I sat down and immediately stated to the defense attorney, "Please keep your client from hard eyeing me, I am not intimidated by punks like him" The defendant stood up and did his gangster routine. Threatening me, my family, and even my dog. Both attorneys said "dismiss" and on my out of the room I smiled at him saying, "Viva La Raza payaso". A Marshall asked if I wanted to file charges for the threat. Shook my head, laughed, and said, "The Yard will take care of all that soon enough".
