| Since when do 19 year olds get summons for jury duty? I just got mine for January 5. | |

| If you are american and are registered with selective service or registered to vote you are eligible for jury duty. ENJOY! |

I know that, but I didn't know you could be summoned so early.

| Easy way to get out of it is just jump at the first thing that would get you eliminated. Last time I was selected, I sat there reading a book for about 4 hours. When I was called with a bunch of others to face the defense lawyer, he told us his client was a convicted felon and want to know if anyone would take that into account when considering the truth of his testimony. My hand shot up as fast as possible and I was eliminated. And I didn't even have to lie to get out of it. OF COURSE I'd consider the testimony of a convicted felon suspect...DUH! _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Everytime I've gotten the notice, I call the night before and get a message saying I am not needed, so I haven't had to go. Heck, it's estimated that 90% - 95% of criminal cases that make it before a judge are guilty cases. The DA isn't going to prosecute unless they have a good shot of conviction. | |

I know that, but I didn't know you could be summoned so early. A guy I knew in school got called in like a month after he turned 18. Just say you have kids or something and cant find a baby sitter.

| I was lucky enough to dodge the jury-duty bullet a few months back. I hated calling that damn hotline # every day though, it kept telling me "You're not needed today, please call back tomorrow" and I kept wondering how many days I'd be able to get that message before my number was up. I was never so relieved when I was finally told that I didn't have to call back any longer!! _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

They decide that later. But right now they want you to show up and be a part of their juror pool. It's alot of fun. You're going to have a blast. |

| Ive been summoned twice for Jury Duty the funny thing is my mother was also summoned the same day so we went together, there was 2 cases they were lookin to fill jurors on, About an hour into it they needed a bunch of jurors to go to a differant courthouse for 1 case there, they called the names and 10 mins later the case was dropped. So those jurors got to go home. 20 mins after that they announced that 1 of the cases at the courthouse I was at was dropped and an hour after that the last case was dropped too. So I spent a few hours just readin my book
The 2nd time I had JUST moved to TN (it was the CT courts summoning me) so I was able to get out of it because I was out of state

It turned out that I didn't have to report because the apartment I was then living in, was in a different county. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I got summoned a couple years ago. Right before jury selection they made us all leave the room. When we went back in the judge told us that the defendant had plead guilty so we were all off the hook. | |

| I've had to report a few times, but I never got picked to sit on a jury. During the interview process, I tell them that my mom once worked for a crooked lawyer (true story) and since then, I don't trust any lawyers. That's usually when they say "That will be all. Thank you". It also helps that I know a few cops and when answering the questionaire, I check "YES" that I would be more likely to believe the statement of a police officer just because he's a cop. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| You guys all have it made. I have sat on one jury in the past. But as of last February, I have sat on a special Federal Grand Jury, nearly every Tuesday, and will have to do so for the period of 18 months, and possibly will end up getting extended for as much as 2 years. | |

| I called yesterday, and I still have to be at the courthouse at 8:45 am Monday. Good thing is that the city finally got the light rail up and running, so I can take that to the courthouse. | |
