I love it!
Everything Metallica has done in the last 10 years or so has sounded forced. Metallica simply aren't a thrash metal band anymore. Those days have passed. THIS is what I've been wanting from Metallica for so many years.

i didn't think the clip sounded all that bad. not much to go on though. i'd still buy it before a new Megadeth just on that clip alone.

I wonder...what are the chances this will even get radio play anywhere? even by dj's looking just to cause controversy and get the listeners to phone in and complain and get active, leading to requests of what they really want?

I'm serious!
Give Death Magnetic a spin. The songs sound so forced and unnatural. Metallica have run out of ideas as a thrash band.

Exclusive rehearsal footage of Metallouca.
At least that's exactly what the sample reminded me of.

At first I thought it was Neil Young with dyed hair trying to mix Elvis with Metallica ! and for some reason, reminded me of Dread Zeppelin - like how they mixed Elvis,Bob marley and Zep.

Eww.
Lou Reed talking over some rock riffs? That's what I heard. Can't say I cared much for it either. I'll still wait to hear more, but if that's any indication of the whole album, I'll pass.

I don't think it is going to be to your liking, unless you are a Lou Reed fan. If you are not a Lou Reed fan then from the clips I have heard this certainly is not going to change your mind.

I am not a huge fan of Reed, but I do like some weird stuff, so I may love it. Nothing wrong with a little Lou Reed!!!!!! I am still looking forward to it

Same here. Though I know very little of Lou Reed so I can't make a decision based on him being there alone.

I think it would have been more appropriate if Metallica backed Lou Reed on a re-imagined Metal Machine Music.

Old news now but for anyone who missed it, there's a 30 minute video of Metallica's sound check, plus "Blackened" and the encore of the 'Big Four' jam on Motorhead's "Overkill" from the Yankee Stadium show. Posted on Blabbermouth, reposted below.
Admittedly, once they started talking about Lars' herbal tea and his gourmet mineral water, I immediately skipped ahead to "Blackened" @ 12:20.
