I just remember another instrumental album I own.

The Wicked Tinkers

Nothing but traditional Irish drums and bagpipes.

Even though it does have some vocals on it, I recommend the first Platypus record - When Pus Comes To Shove. Available on emusic.
Yep. That's another good one.

What about Marty Friedman's stuff,Ult? Dragon's Kiss, Scenes, and Loudspeaker are his best IMO. Try Joe Satriani's Crystal Planet and Strange Beautiful Music. Megadeth's Cryptic Sounds is worth getting. I'll look through my collection and recommend some more.

The new Jeff Loomis disc Zero Order Phase is good if you haven't picked it up yet.

I really like all of the Pelican stuff. Not shred type stuff but really good. Also Karma To Burn are another great instrumental band.

NOW you're talking!!!!

Speaking of all instrumental guitar album...MUST get a copy of the John McLaughlin album "Extrapolation", that was his debut and it's one of the most incredible guitar albums of all time...no matter what genre.

Also, if you like Eddie Van Halen/Randy Rhoads, etc, you need to track down a copy of the album "Believe It" by Tony Williams' Lifetime...that was the recording debut of Alan Holdsworth and you can hear him in 1975 play most everything that Eddie would do 3 years later. Eddie has always listed Holdsworth as one of his main influences.

MAYBE SOME VINNIE MOORE???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Laughing

No doubt!! Vinman rules. WHen it comes to metal guitar instrumental albums, Vinman is essential. I have Mind's Eye, Time Odyssey, Meltdown, Out of Nowhere, and Defying Gravity. I enjoy all of 'em.

Did you know that Vinman is now the lead guitar guy in UFO? He has replaced Schenker is recent years, and has filled those shoes amazingly well from a musical standpoint, and actually gets along well with Phil Mogg. No ego clash like with Mogg and Schenker. Saw UFO live back in April, and they are awesome with Vinman on axe. Yes, they played Doctor Doctor, and Vinman did not disappoint in the least.
