Your basic runnin' off at the mouth as follows. The Lizzy album at it's time of release was distinctive. The Metallica lp was them just going through the motions of what they've established themselves as prior.

Looks like people here are more into hard rock than metal.

Despite the fact that these albums shouldn't really be compared in the first place...I'll also vote for Lizzy.

I personally dont even think these albums are close, Master of Puppets is the greatest thrash album and although Jailbreak is a great album it has not stood the test of time like MOP has. Songs like Jailbreak and The Boys are back in Town I just heard one too many times. I am very surprised at the results so far.

Personally, I think the best songs from Jailbreak are "Angel From The Coast" (which is brilliant) and "Emerald"...which is one of the best hard rock songs of all-time.

But I still think it's incredibly stupid to be comparing an album from 1976 with another album in a COMPLETELY different style from 1986. I wouldn't compare Miles Davis - Bitches Brew with Hell Awaits...it would be silly.

But that's just my 2 1/2 cents.

I understand detuned, when it gets down to the wire in these eliminations there are going to be different styles matched up against one another. We might have a Rush vs. Maiden final.

It was a really tough choice for me ( the Lizzy album has my favorite Lizzy song -Emerald, and the Metallica album has my second favorite Metallica track -Sanitarium) but I went with MoP b/c it simply gets more spins from me. I agree, it's an odd match up but it's how we have all voted so far that pits these two against each other. If we do end up with a Rush vs. Maiden final, my head might explode. Peace.

I have been on a big Apple kick lately. That and bananas. Easy to take to work and snack on. I wonder if there's ever been a band from NY called Big Apple?

I love both albums, but I hate to see Priest getting their asses handed to them like they are, so...
