| Looks like those that said AC/DC would outsell Metallica during first week sales were correct: According to Hits Daily Double, the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS, AC/DC's new album, "Black Ice" — which arrived in the U.S. on Monday (October 20) exclusively at Wal-Mart stores, Walmart.com and ACDC.com — is reportedly blowing the doors off of the retail giant. Sales for "Black Ice" are outpacing the EAGLES' first week, which was also a Wal-Mart exclusive. Estimates for first week are currently ranging north of 800,000, which would make it the biggest Sony BMG release in the past two years. "Black Ice" is also scoring huge sales figures around the world. In Germany, the album is trending No. 1, with a shot at 250,000. In the UK, it's on track for 120-140,000 and headed for No. 1. The band is also racking up record numbers and will go No. 1 in Canada, France, Italy, Australia, Ireland, Switzerland, Austria, France, Italy, Australia, Ireland, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Norway and Portugal.
Wal-Mart has reportedly purchased 2.5 million copies of "Black Ice" on a no-return basis.
The band's last effort, 2000's "Stiff Upper Lip", sold 131,000 copies in its first week of release and has shifted more than 900,000 units to date.
AC/DC has sold 26.4 million albums since 1991, when SoundScan first began tracking record sales, making the group second only to THE BEATLES.

| Amazing AC/DC is second to Metallica, I remember in another thread discussing which album would sell better Metallica or AC/DC and we know have our answer. | |

| I am amazed at how this exclusive deal stuff works. It's playing on the pysche of people somehow. If that album was available everywhere, would it sell that much? As big as AC/DC is, I'd say no. For some reason, the idea of it being a Walmart exclusive is lending it a more special quality, which is triggering something in people. Weird. I mean, this is about to outsell Stiff Upper Lip in its first week? That's insane. Especially now, with all the downloading and whatnot.

Until you walk into Walmart and see that each store has been shipped 2,000 copies. |

| one could also argue that people buy albums from there more because they can include buying the cd with their grocery shopping. instead of having to go to other stores as well as doing grocery shopping. it saves time and wal mart has a reputation for low prices. although i cant say for real as we dont have wal mart in england | |

in england, Black Ice is available to purchase at all good record outlets the idea of a band doing an exclusive deal would not be allowed under competition laws

| I got the deluxe edition for 11.88. It was the last one they had. As I was standing there at least two people (and not the kind you would say looked like AC/DC fans) bought both Black Ice and the No Bull Dvd.
At my local Hastings they were selling the remasters for 5.99 though it looked very picked over.
Plan on giving the disc a dedicated listen tonight.

What's the price on the blue version? $13.88, two dollars more than the other ones. It comes as a mini book with extra pics and the lyrics.

| I got my deluxe edition also for $11.88 the first day it came out. There probably was a promo on the disc if you got it the first day. That, or someone put the wrong UPC barcode on the disc. Either way, I was happy to get the deluxe at that price. | |

I can finally say... YES! One of my favorite releases of the year. I don't really get all the negative talk. It rocks. AllMusicGuide.com gave it three stars outta five, but then the review pretty much trashed it (and the second half of their career) for being too polished and complacent. Oh well. If you're an AC/DC fan, you should pick it up.

| That seems to the trend with critics when comes to an older band like AC/DC or Rush and anyone else you care to name, they trash the newest release claiming they have not made a great album in 20 years, it is silly crap. | |

Emphatic Yes ! I've been a fan since 1980 (7th grade) own all their domestic and some import stuff as well. 15 tracks and it's an AC/DC album. There are some instant classic type stuff as well as several tunes that have continued to grow on me as I've listened to it 4-5x's... They even use slide guitar and one of the tracks. A first. there was some tunes the first time through I went 'eh...' but after listening to it, it's very good. The vibe to me is more like 'Razor's Edge' as opposed to say 'Stiff Upper Lip'. I really have to laugh when I read reviews that say 'It all sounds the same...' 'No progression...'... screw that!! It's an AC/DC disc, if I want prog I'll listen to prog, if I want a ballad I'll listen to somebody else.... I like it !
