Yeah, maybe I'm too liberal when it comes to this issue but this one just doesn't bother me. Who am I to judge what two consenting adult do? Why should I care if merry folk want to get married?

And don't tell me "it's sin" because people commit sinful acts all the time and there's no legislation about those.

I'm in that category too, ToHo. I don't care what other people do as long as it doesn't bother me. As far as the argument that it makes a mockey of the sanctity of marriage, I'm sure the folks that dress up in Star Wars costumes and have Yoda marry them take the sacrament of marriage very seriously.

Speaking of science fiction, I hear Mr. Sulu (George Takai) was at the front of the line to get his marriage license, no joke.

On a related note, did anyone see celebrity roast of William Shatner? George Takai was pretty funny, but you could still see/hear the coolness between him and Shatner. Their joking was a little too serious, it seemed.

I agree with you.

What I have a problem with is the government legislating morality.

Lots of things people do are considered "sinful" in Biblical terms but you don't have the government creating laws about it. Show me the "gluttony" law; you know the one that refuses to recognize fat people because they overeat. Where's the "lust law"; the one that says the government refuses to recognize the guy who can't keep it in his pants?

If the government can start denying people rights because said people are engaged in a "sinful act"; we start down a slippery slope in my opinion.

I don't know why people give a crap about gays marrying, if two homosexuals want to get married so what? It is not effecting my life and what right do I have tell someone they can or can't get married.

At one time it was against the law for African American and whites to get married , and we now look at that law as a shameful part of American History.

I love the argument that homosexuals will turn the institution of marriage into a joke, we have already accomplished that with 50% divorce rate.

I am amazed at this politicans who scream smaller goverment, yes that want it small enough to fit into your bedroom.

Please explain how g4y is normal? It is against nature (think about it) and it has always been morally wrong in just about every culture until the recent acceptance they've been getting from a morally declining world. I don't hate them but they seem to want to cross the line and force people that strongly disagree with that form of lifestyle to not only accept it but give them a right that is and always has been reserved for a man and woman and is considered sacred. We have these just give them what they want attitudes that will leads to just let anybody with a "different" lifestyle have what they want as well result. People need to draw the line somewhere and not give in to these overly liberal ways of thinking that trample over traditions that were put there for a reason.

Prejudice is prejudice. Why is it OK to be prejudice against merry people and then not be prejudice against blacks, or Jews, or caterers? G4y is normal because it is an emotion that occurs naturally within humans. I honestly think that white, straight males are scared that their power is being taken away inch by inch and it scares the crap out of them.

I'm not against the already prior established merry rights laws. I'm against g4y marriage plain and simple. I said in my first post that i don't hate them i'm against the title marriage they are after.

I believe you are born merry, nobody would choose to be merry. When I was a kid my father never sat me down and said " You must like Girls", I just knew I did , it was natural, I am sure it is that way for gays and lesbians.

This argument that if you allow two conscenting adults to marry whoever they choose and equating that with child abusers is just plain out wrong. The fact most child molesters are straight, not to mention sick. Two gays wanting to commit themselves in marriage isn't sick, it is two people wanting to affirm their commitment to one another and also have protection under the law. What is wrong with that?

The tradition of marriage and all these red hern arguments about tradition is crap, it was at one time tradition to own slaves, it was at one time traditon to have children as young as 5 working in factories, it was at one time tradition to have separte water fountains and we could go on and on, but you get the point.

I for one could careless what people do in their bedroom, it does not effect me in the least, live and let live. I don't spend one second of my day thinking about what goes on in a merry couples bedroom.

Troublezone you don't have to accept homosexuals, because they already here, always have been and always will be. I personally don't see what the big deal is.
