I remember that episode. I loved what Bruce had to say.

I love the parents who actually tried to accept what their kids were into. My mom did the same, and I think i was much better for it in the long run. My mom isn't a metal fan, but she could talk about for quite a while if she had to.

I should be a teenager on the 80's.

I would love to go to my local store and get Savatage - Sirens Lp and CD, and then get some undeground thrash like TANK , and in the night go see Maiden

1987 was the greatest year for Metal and Hard Rock. It was absolutely insane.

I couldn't even get past Barbra's intro for it. I never saw this but I remember another piece they did on horror movies - where they talked about what a horrible depraved influence they were on the youth. All the while showing the most violent clips the whole way. They used to re-run it endlessly too.

I'm to this day thankful my parents were against/laughed off such fear-mongering. My mom used to always say that "they thought Elvis' hips were the devil too, so it is always something".

Anyone remember the Geraldo special where metal was going to steal your soul for satan and make you commit all forms of unspeakable atrocities. King Diamond was all over it, milking it for all he was worth. I actually had my girlfriend at the time call me crying afterward fearful for what my musical taste would ultimately bring. She wasn't even religious at all and this show really scared her into accepting it's premise.

I think one of my old high school teachers made us watch this in class. Classic stuff. I'd love for them to go back and find some of the kids they interviewed back then and see what they are up to these days.

One of my life-long dreams is to meet Tipper Gore.... while I'm wearing a Twisted Sister shirt.

What documentary is that? It starts off with Dee Snider, but that "de-metaling" lady is from Decline of Western Civilization.

It's a documentary. All the parts are on there.

Dude, you gotta get on that. Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years is required viewing. Especially now that so much time has passed. I wish they would put it out on dvd already.
