| Yeah, I liked it. It was my first Whitesnake album. If you're looking for WS recommends, I'm sure there's others on here that are more familiar with their older works, I've heard it's all pretty good though. Their follow-up, Slip of the Tongue, is in the same vein as the '87 release. Though a bit slicker in my opinion. Slide It In is also similar sounding. You might wanna check out Good to Be Bad, the new album that just came out this past week, I believe. It's got the same sound as well and is pretty good. | |

| Good album but due to it's huge success primarily in America unfairly overwhadows pre-1987 Whitesnake, which was already a big band in Europe. Thus, ever since, we're stuck with an overrepresentive amount of material from 1987 when Whitesnake performs, even in Europe. Which is a shame...I'd like to hear songs such as Sweet Talker, Trouble, Aint Gonna Cry No More, Carry your Load, Young Blood, Child of Babylon etc live. Now thats awesome stuff! Thus, I'm at split ends with the 1987 release...which I also dont find as original as earlier Whitesnake... |

| Are you familiar with the David Coverdale/Jimmy Page album? It's pretty decent. | |

| To me John Sykes is what makes the record special because their next one with Vai just didn't have the same magic. | |

| Absolutely one of my favorite albums. I was already a big fan of them due to the Deep Purple connection; but when 1987 came out, it didn't leave my turntable for a long time. A real long time. | |

I still wonder what the hell went through Coverdales mind when he hired Vai, who is about as bluesy as a plank of wood. Great guitarist obviously but extremely ill-fitting for Whitesnake. My guess is Coverdale had lost the plot completely after the success. |

| This is a tough one. I kind of like Whitesnake, but I also kind of don't like them. Guilty pleasure, and all that. 1987's my favorite album by them by default, mainly because I like the 3 songs I've heard from it. If it weren't for "Here I Go", "Is This Love", & "Still Of The Night", I doubt I'd listen to it. I'm also one of the small group of people (outside here, of course), who realizes that they had some pretty solid hard rock/blues-rock bands back in the late 70s & early 80s, when they had some folks from Deep Purple. |

| Good question. Maybe, just maybe, he (DC) thought he was assembling some sort of supergroup ala the DLR band circa Eat Em and Smile?
I like Slip of the Tongue alot too, there's not much that DC has ever done in any band that I don't like; but they (Whitesnake) was really becoming sorta goofy at that point in time. Peace.

| Yes, actually three fifths of Deep Purple at one point, as both Paice & Lord where in Whitesnake alongside Coverdale. |

| Imagine John Sykes writing those same classic riffs (1987) but with Ian Gillan instead. Man that would be beyond great. | |

| Sorry, but Coverdale is a better vocalist. And Deep Purple are a sacred band to me. |

Maybe for the mellow love songs but not for the balls out rockers. Coverdale would choke if he tried to sing at the level Gillan does!
