SAW brutality? Bring it on! I can actually appreciate that distinction. You're right, the violence in something like Saw or Hostel is almost cartoonish. The human on human violence is Pan's Labyrinth is much more believable because things like that probably really happened. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

I love that movie. Rubbish. Eurotrip is just another teen, sex-crazed movie. I did not like the choice of actors, especially the "best friend".

I read a review that said that the ending was discussed briefly by characters in the original novella, but abandoned. So the ending technically came from Stephen King's source material. I'd have to re-read the novella to find that, but I thought that was interesting. And as to your spoiler, yes! And laughed at the line delivered right after!

Close...the ending was thought of in his self-talk by the narrator of the movie, but we don't know if he ever gets there. DB - concerning your spoiler.....they didn't get to it soon enought!!

Could you get past the fact that none of the stuff portrayed in the movie didn't happen in 10000 BC? If they changed the title I think it could have done way better. Today: THE PAGEMASTER

The one thing that puzzled me is, how did the main characters know English? Seriously, you don't see movies like that for historical accuracy or the acting for that matter. It is purely for entertainment. IMO, if soemone wants to learn history, then they can read a book or watch the History Channel. Moives can be educational but, they don't have to be.

| The other night, the wife & I rented Into the Wild. It's about a college grad in the early 90's that gives up all his worldy possessions, ditches his car, money, ID and makes his way across America, eventually settling in Alaska. It's based on a true story and I won't spoil the ending. It was pretty decent, but very long (2.5 hours) | |

| Aliens 3 - it was O.K.....not as bad as people say.
Labyrinth - the girls loved the creatures. I bet it's been 20 years since I saw this last. Can't believe that's Jennifer Connelly! Sort of creepy an old dude trying to seduce a sub-adult.

| Tropic Thunder= Extremely funny movie IMO with GREAT performances by Jack Black, Ben Stiller, and "the dude playing a dude disguised as another dude" Morton Downer Jr. (who gives the best performance-his star is rising and may continue to do so as long as he stays out of rehab). Also suprise appearances by Matthew McConaughey, Nick Nolte, and Tom Cruise (who is almost unrecognizable). If you want to see it, get there on time (trust me on this)! - Spoiler:
Some of the funniest moments are presented like previews to showcase the actors of the film within the film.

| Finally saw The Dark Knight last night. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. I guess after waiting all this time and hearing all the hype, it was hard to live up to it. It was pretty cool story-wise and Heath was cool, but it was a little too long for me and the action sequences are too over-the-top for my tastes. I don't know what wrong with me. Any movie I watch anymore, I just pick apart. I'm really becoming a cranky old man. | |

Really funny movie. What did you think was the funniest part? Mine was: - Spoiler:
After he went back to be with his son and came running back yelling that he was wrong while the little kid clung to his back stabbing him repeatedly with that littl knife. Priceless!
