"Man-Thing"

-- A decent B-flick based loosely on the 1970s/80s Marvel Comic series about a swamp dwelling monster (not to be confused with Swamp Thing, who was published by DC and was also made into a movie years back). The movie was OK, but it bore very little resemblance to the comic series from back in the day. About the only ties to the comic series that I could see were a couple of characters in the movie that were named after the writer and artists of the old comic book (Steve Gerber, Mike Ploog, Val Mayerik)... which was a nice tip of the hat not only to the comic book creators, but a cool little in-joke for old geeks like me. Laughing

Overall, I've seen better movies, but Lord knows I've seen a LOT worse.

Low budget but atmospheric flick similar to the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Also contains one of the most cringe-inducing scenes I've ever seen.

Now watching Pan's Labyrinth. Only an hour in but I can already recommend this one. A dark, adult fairy tale. Warning: spanish movie with subtitles but it's not really dialogue driven.

Aside from everyone's disgust of this movie, I watched it anyway: Pirates Of The Caribbean 3: At World's End. I thought it was quite good, but the end was kind of iffy.

Finished Pan's Labyrinth.

Great movie! A fairy tale for adults. This is the way fairy tales used to be before the PC Police "sanitized" them. Violent and dark.

Sweeny Todd - the demon barber of fleet street - actually a really good movie, a horror musical (and I don't usually like horror movies)

Alos watched Robotech:the shadow chronicals - a semi sequal to the animated tv show from the mid 80's

Sweeny Todd is on my radar. I love Tim Burton's warped views and a horror musical just appeals to my weird movie tendencies.
