He's doing it right but...It's Tommy Thayer...Doing a song that Ace was doing...Now Gene really scares me. He want Tommy to be an Ace clone...

I thought he did a stellar performance.

Have you notice how he's also beginning to mimic Ace's stage moves? It's all there: hypnotically moving around the stage; moving the guitar with the notes; puckering the lips. In combination with his playing style (he's always imititated Ace's playing well), he's doing a very good job filling Ace's shoes, or boots.

I've noticed that on this tour the whole band seems to be going for a nostalgic thing (relatively speaking....because KISS is all about nostalgia as it is). Perhaps it's because it's the anniversary, but the resurrection of the Destroyer-era costumes as well as the largely old-school set list (Shock Me and Black Diamond...come on! that's awesome) makes me think they're trying to get back at the concept of KISS. I was really happy to see "Firehouse" back in the setlist. I really hope that they come to Canada.

Tommy is doing a great job but he should be himself not Ace.

Well, at least we get to hear "Shock Me" again. And, who knows, maybe they'll start throwing in some of Ace's other tunes as well.

Cold Gin would be a cool tune to pull out for a live show. Back in the NY Groove would be nice to hear as well, but I don't know that they would do that one.

Basically, KISS right now is all about recreating that classic period live show. Whether it's Thayer or anyone else, they would be hiring someone to play the Spaceman character. Yes, Ace originated the character, but it still is a "role" that someone is playing. I can't say that that is all bad really, although I know where you are coming from.

I bet that when Gene & Paul finally want to retire from road work, they'll just draft a new "Demon" and "Starchild" to take their places. Hell, there are enough KISS tribute bands out there, they could hold auditions and whoever they think is the best "Gene" or "Paul" gets to take over. Who knows, maybe the producers of the "Rock Star" TV show are already workin' on this idea!!

Paul has already said something to the effect that KISS would continue without him eventually.

You mean we won't get to see 90-year-old Paul Stanley in his Destroyer costume flippin' and floppin' all over the place?

Y'all are my witnesses now, I came up with this idea first, so if "Rock Star: KISS" turns up on TV within the next coupla years I am filing one HELL of a law suit and I'll need some backup!! Laughing

It's not about individuality...it's about recreating KISS in all it's glory, including the smallest nuances...

They're paving the way for KISS to be a travelling, "Broadway" type experience where all four members are replaceable "team members"...to keep KISS going as long as people pay to see it...

Shoot. Well, there goes my Get-Rich-Quick-By-Suing-Gene-Simmons-and-KISS-Incorporated plan, then. Sad

Yea, I'm pretty sure Gene is quoted somewhere saying something to the effect of KISS is more than just a band anymore. It's like a corporation and as long as he's running that corporation, it doesn't matter who is in the costumes, playing the "characters" they've created. KISS can live on forever.

Don't worry Freddy, I haven't heard anything about doing a reality show to get replacement members yet, so that idea is still all you.

Hearing from Gene would be cool, but honestly I'd rather get an e-mail (preferably one with pictures in it) from Shannon Tweed. Laughing

Hot diggity!! I'm awake now!

Ahhh Shannon Tweed. She made some of the best-est soft-core porn of the 80's. Cinimax owes her a debt of gratitude.

So has Paul. Also, in Classic Rock (UK) magazine last year, Gene was asked if he was replaceable in KISS, and he said "Absolutely!"

KISS isn't a band anymore...it's a bRand.
