Many great drummers in metal but never heard or seen a drum solo any where near the speed and intensity of Mike Portnoy!

Love Jim Chaffin's fast pace. Haven't heard any of his recordings after The Crucified though. Looking forward to seeing (and hearing!) him with Once Dead here in Oslo!

Wow...Where's Bonham?!?!?! I choose someone else 'cuz Eric Carr is my favourite (Yeah he was with KISS but he played like a Metal drummer)

Have you ever heard his Vivaldi album? No way is he one dimensional. Grip inc also has alot of flavors for a "thrash" band.

any of his Fantômas work cannot possibly be described as "one-dimensional". Grip Inc. was indeed more adventurous than Slayer thanks to Waldemars compositions. Slayer was & is more about pure aggression. Dave just brings that alive.

I picked Portnoy from that list...but I did it almost as a reflex...there was a time I thought he was THE be-all/end-all of Metal drummers...he's gotten a little boring lately, though...

You guys ever watch Hoglan play the drums? It's amazing. He's a big dude. Not quite all fat, but fat enough. And he doesn't even look like he's working hard. He looks bored, in fact! Haha. It's really crazy to see someone play so fast, but really look like he's just sort of doing nothing at all. Haha.

That's another one. Check him out on the split screen. Insane! And Devin in that frickin' hat is so absurd it makes me laugh every time! The funniest part is that it's a sheriff's cowboy hat and he goes, "Ahoy, mateys!" Haha. Not even close.

I picked gene Gene Hoglan from that bunch but some of my other favorites are: Nick Menza, Brann Dailor, Neil Peart, Mario Duplantier, and Moe Carlson

Dave Lombardo on that list is my fave, but I think there are many more very good not mentioned! Like:

-Nick Menza
-Philty Animal Taylor
-Charlie Benante
-Dan Beehler from Exciter (in early days he sing too!)
-Gene Hoglan from Death Angel, he's an amazing drummer!

Lombardo is crazy good.

Ted K. is very technical.

But my boy is Jason Sherlock. His drumming is awesome - not just with Mortification but also with Paramaecium.

Guess you've not heard his work in Grip inc. Definately not one dimensional and he plays crazy stuff in Fantomas.
