Favorite Maiden Drummer?

Kind of a companion piece to the Maiden polls...

I'm expecting Nicko to win by a landslide here but I'm curious nonetheless. I've always enjoyed Nicko--technical, skilled, FAST, and a perfect fit for the Maiden sound--but Clive's drumming give me goosepimples that I've never really experienced with Nicko. Guy just had a killer groove that I find unique.

Or perhaps it's not worth comparing. Whatchoo guys think?

I voted apples and oranges. I loved Clive Burr's drumming and it gave the band amazing energy (people go on about the Soundhouse Tapes, but the drums are so flat and lifeless)

Nicko is an amazing musician but I only really noticed on their cover of Hocus Pocus and from his YouTube stuff that he's done. I think in Maiden he does his job and while he does it really really well, it doesn't stand out the way that Clive did.

Nicko. Clive was great (R.I.P.) but I like Nicko's distinctive style.

Clive was great, but Nicko just fits Maiden perfectly.

Probably Nicko, but I voted Apples & Oranges because I like them both just fine on their respective records. If you'd swap them, at least Number of the Beast wouldn't be as good as it is. But Powerslave and Seventh Son needed Nicko - I doubt Clive would have made them sound as good as they did.

Voted for Nicko. Both are great drummers but Nicko is To Maiden what Lombardo was to Slayer.

Nicko by far. Clive was great and the albums he played are fantastic, but Maiden went to the next level with Nicko. Plus, Nicko is much easier to play along to (guitar) than Clive. He's a cool dude too, I've been lucky enough to meet him several times.

Nicko also looks a bit like the band's mascot.

I voted for Nicko. Since I don't know anything about drums, I went with him b/c he's a really cool guy and seems to take what he does very seriously, but not take himself seriously at all. And I think that's cool.

I went with Nicko though Clive was an awesome drummer as well. Nicok's style suits Maiden better.

I went with Clive Burr, for very similar reasons to Shay. There is just some kind of weird, ineffable "it" factor to his drumming that I love.

I love Nicko though, too.

Not there was anything wrong with Clive's drumming. He fit the band just fine for that era. But it wasn't until Nicko stepped behind the kit that I went "Wow, listen to that drumming!".
