I hadn't thought of this band in decades...literally. I have Steel and Starlight on vinyl and I remember liking it a lot.

Cool band. Quite overlooked, if you ask me.

It's the only one I have as well. Even their own website calls it their best and heaviest, so I've never bothered to track down the others. Some memories you just don't want to spoil.

Whoever said this is an idiot. That album is awesome.

These guys are an all time favorite of mine. Despite some bad decision making in the past by myself, I have recently re-acquired these albums.

Shok Paris defines classic pure metal in my eyes......or ummm......ears.......you know what I mean.

They're coming back with a new album later this year.

But here's something I thought was strange.

On their Facebook page, they said that they are finalizing the details of a licensing deal for worldwide CD and vinyl distribution of the new release, but have to delay the digital and streaming release.

You would think it would be the other way around.

That's great news. I love these guys. Witchfinder turned me on to them a few years back and I instantly fell in love. With Shok Paris that is, me and WF are firmly in the friend zone. Smile

Too bad their older releases are so expensive. I only have Go For The Throat but I can't find their other 2 at an affordable price.

I assume you're talking about the CDs because you can get the digital version of Steel and Starlight for 8.99 which is actually cheaper than newer mp3s on Amazon. The seller on Amazon wants 34.99 for the CD and that's insane. Fortunately I already have it. Laughing

This is a band i so want to get into. Unfortunately, their albums are impossible to find. The ones sold online are way too expensive.

I will probably be buying their new record.

Yes. I don't do digital. Probably old school thinking, but in my opinion, not having an actual physical copy (cd,album or cassette) is just not the same.

I bought both Steela nd Starlight and Concrete Killers a few years back on both CD and cassette. I believe I paid $15 and $20 for the discs and $6 and $8 for the tapes. I got the Auburn Records Sessions of Steel and Starlight that has about 6 or 7 bonus tracks. It's Go For the Throat that I can't seem to find affordably.

That's funny. I can't find Steel And Starlight and Concrete Killers anywhere (without paying an arm and a leg) and found Go For The Throat for under $10 at the Exchange (a local multi media chain).

I know this is an old thread, but I felt compelled to comment on this part of it.

Nothing against the original poster, who may not even post here any more...but that's such a weird mindset to me--"this is as good as it gets--maybe--no use looking at the band any further". I've heard others echo it about bands, including friends in real life.

I had a friend a while back who stopped his Anthrax collection at "Among the Living" because, though he loved it, he had heard it was their best album and was all you really needed. Mind boggling.

That first Shok Paris album may be the heaviest, but I see no reason the other records wouldn't also appeal to someone who loves the first.

Ha. Anyway. I couldn't let that go.

Yeah, Go For the Throat is one of those "grails" I check the bay for every now and again but usually get shut out. I have found a ton of stuff off the 'ol want list the last half decade or so, but a few biggies still elude me.

Lion - Powerlove
Icon - An Even More Perfect Union
Stratovarius - Fright Night

They have dropped a bit in price, but still aren't really in my swim lane.

Man, that Icon album. You'd really think someone woulda been able to get a hold of and reissue that.

Yeah. But the one that is surprising is Stratovarius as last year was the 30th anniversary and nothing happened. They also had a much longer career than Icon, too. But, you are right since it seems like anyone who had a minor hit in the 1980's reformed at some point in the last decade and released something. You'd think that Icon woulda got the troops together and polished this thing up in the studio and did something with it?

With Shok Paris dropping a new album very soon, maybe their back catalog will get reissued as a result of that? Reissues have happened to coincide with comebacks at times.
