no one ever said it to me but people were like 'you listen to that??? ....Voluntarily??'

My tastes too have evolved a lot from hair metal to death/black to power metal and now into hard rock and prog. I have never 'looked' metal but metal is something that i really enjoy and as long as that is still the case Ill be listening to it when i am 80....

Alex

I remember when I was just starting college, I arrived on campus the day before my roommate, so I took the time to "decorate" my side of the room with all of the posters, pictures, etc. that I'd brought with me. When he arrived and saw all the Metallica, KISS, Helloween, etc. pics on my side of the room, he said "So you listen to that headbanging crap huh??"
I immediately thought, "Oh, goody. THIS is not going to go well."

He lasted one semester and then moved in with some other dude who also liked to wear black and listen to Joy Division, and I sez "Good riddance!"

I've had a ton of people in church tell me that, even though they new
all I listen too was Christian metal. So I finally conceded and didn't
listen to metal for almost a decade. A little here and there on the
radio. So lets just say, I've had just about all the Amy Grant, Michael
W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman etc... I can stomach for the next
millennium! I know my wife thinks the same thing now, she doesn't like
it, doesn't get why I still like it! 🤘

Just think if I was bringing stuff like Slayer - Reign In Blood or Hell
Awaits and what not, home?! And she was nervous about the cover on
Puppet of Destruction?!?! lol!

Same here, I've always had the "jock" look (high and tight), so I think my music always shocked/horrified people!?lol!

Not only have I not grown out of the predicted "phase" but my Metal interest has focused and narrowed.....while when I was younger Metal was 50-75% of my interest it's now probably 95% or more.....

UGH (Shudder)... dude, NO amount of churchified (is that a word?) pressure could make me listen to those artists for ANY amount of time!!! Shocked
