| Finally heard Chinese Democracy today. Well, I wasn't impressed. A decades wait for this crappy modern rock album. Processed sounding vocals. Generic sounding songs. Blah! _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| I've been reading and hearing how lots of people are disappointed with this album. I have only heard the title track and thought it was ok. | |

I think if Axl would've just called it Axl Rose not GnR we would maybe accept it more. I like 2 tracks on it and really dig the tracks Shacklers Revenge and Better

I think if Axl would've just called it Axl Rose not GnR we would maybe accept it more. I like 2 tracks on it and really dig the tracks Shacklers Revenge and Better You nailed it. I think if he dropped GnR it would have been a bit more open minded to accept. However since it sounds nothing like GnR it is getting chopped up. I personally hated it when I first got it but somehow that crappy album has taken a turn and I ended up liking it now, although I would never recommend it to any GnR fan. I personally cant figure out how I changed my mind and accept it now, I truly loathed it at first.

| I think that if he dropped the Guns n Roses name it would not have the commerical potential, the name Guns N Roses is worth its weight in gold, where an Axl Rose solo album would not get as much press attention or an exclusive deal with Best Buy. I have not bought the CD yet but from the songs I have heard I do like the album so far, I hope to buy it this week. | |

I know what kind of comment you were trying to make, but I really don't think this record could sound any less like Weezer (who, as an aside, are fantastic). _________________

| Bad comparison. Just generic modern rock I guess is the point. Weezer rules. | |

| I am listening to 'Chinese Democracy" and I love it, it doesnot sound like G n R of old, but Axl is singing his ass off, Bumblefoot and Buckethead play some excellent leads thru out and of course it has lot of touches of modern production and sounds. Maybe it was worth the 13 year wait but it is good come back and it is nice to have Axl back. | |

| Could this overhyped CD have tanked any harder? Decent opening week then straight down the drain.
This obviously has nothing to do with whether or not the music is actually good...I see a lot of people saying they dig at least part of it...but for so many years it as all "ooo, aahh, GnR...Chinese Democracy..." then *poof*...it finally comes out and makes virtually no splash at all... |

| I get the feeling this will go down as a "love-it-or-hate-it" type of cd. No in-between. I happen to be in the "love it" category. Like most, I agree that it's not a GnR album. It's Axl solo, pure and simple. I enjoy the epic, ballad-y type stuff on there. It seems like a natural progression from songs like "Estranged" and "November Rain". I don't listen to the radio, so granted, I'm not all that familiar with the modern rock genre as a whole, but I don't get those comparisions. My idea of modern rock is stuff like Nickelback and this stuff is miles beyond that poop. Ult, I'm surprised that you dismissed this one so quickly. Even when most fans, us included, tear an album apart, you're ususally the one to find something positive to say. But hey, it's your opinion. No harm, no foul. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| LOL. I'm not really a "hater", I loved Appetite when it first came out...but the way it was overplayed and overhyped killed it for me. When the singles first started coming out for Use Your Illusion I didn't like any of them so never bothered to pick up the album. I heard it of course, but never had any desire to purchase.
Axl's egocentric attitude didn't help my opinion much... |

| I heard this over the Christmas holiday at a friend's house. I was very surprised. Not that it was good, but just how middle of the road and ho-hum the whole thing is. I guess I expected a bit more pomp and circumstance over this grand album that took almost half of my lifetime to create. On the other hand, I wasn't totally turned off by it. Axl sounds better since he took his nutsack out of a vice. |
