Back when the veteran old guys were inspired by Pantera and the 90’s “modern heavy”.

Dee really sings his ass off on that album! I’ve been listening to it in the car and it’s great. It’s very underrated.

I had always liked the Fight album a lot, and I still do! But that Widowmaker album is really impressive to me. Dee’s voice has more character and attitude than Halford does with Fight.

I've never heard Stand By For Pain, just the Widowmaker debut and even if I had my vote would most surely be for War Of Words. I love that album.

Fight for me. I like Blood & Bullets by Widowmaker much better than Stand By For Pain.

I knew that Fight would have more fans overall, but I still wanted to put the poll up and see the comments.

Blood and Bullets is a loud dirty blues type album. Similar to Dangerous Toys. “Stand by for Pain” is sonically heavier and more suited for comparison to Fight. IMO

Both bands' first albums (War of Words and Blood and Bullets) were better than their second.
I dig'em both but I gotta give it to War of Words by a smidge.

Probably won’t change any minds... but you gotta admit it’s pretty damn good! It’s in the same ballpark as “Slave to the Grind” Skid Row.

I think Widowmaker’s first album is not heavy. It’s loud and uptempo. SBFP is a bit darker and heavier. The production is better as well. I think it’s very similar to Slave to the Grind.

“Slave” era Skid Row and BLS. That’s the sound I like!

Fight is a way better album. This is a cover of a Fight song. Now if this was “ Blood and Bullets “ .....I’d change my mind. Halford is a great lyricist. A great singer. He’s rocked millions of people for 4 decades easy. Leaving Priest was a bold move. The band’s release was really hot.

I don’t get the love for Blood and Bullets...
It’s good, but more of a rowdy/loud blues rock style. It’s not as heavy and not a good comparison to Fight. SBFP is like Slave era Skid Row and BLS.

“Blood and Bullets “ is a super duper ultra glance to who Dee Snyder is. Most of the songs - tell serious stories - and the band is right there with him. I was so happy when I very first heard the CD. First listen ! DORO “ Angels Never Die “ - I had the exact same experience. But FIGHT - is way better - than “ Stand By For Pain “ . IMO.

Maybe you might think Fight is better, but not “way” better... Stand by for Pain is a quality metal album.

I have heard rumors recently that somebody (possibly Dee himself?) is looking into reissuing the Widowmaker albums. If that happens, I wouldn't mind re-acquiring Stand By For Pain. I had it years ago but traded it off, so it's been a long time since I've heard it (aside from the YouTubes posted above).
