Watched the first two episodes of the new "Freak Brothers" animated series on Tubi, based on the classic underground comic books (it's one of my all time favorite comics, and it inspired my screen name here and elsewhere online!)
Essentially its a stoner spin on Rip Van Winkle - the three hippie bro's smoke a super powered joint in 1969 that puts them to sleep for 50 years. When they re-awaken in 2020, they have to navigate a brave new world where everything has changed. Wacky hi jinks and tasteless, foul mouthed humor ensue! Fun stuff, Tubi will be adding new episodes every Sunday.

"The Pit" (aka "Teddy,"1981)
A creepy 12 year old boy pervs on his live-in babysitter, takes orders from his demonic teddy bear, and feeds everyone who pisses him off to a gaggle of hungry creatures that live in a pit in the woods. Yup, that's the whole plot. This one has been on my Tubi watch list for a while but Troublezone's thread about it here piqued my interest and bumped it to the top. I wasn't disappointed. This is one straaaaange movie! The acting stinks, the creature effects are primitive (at best) and the movie lurches along as if it was being made up on the fly. It's not "good" in the slightest but it's weirdly watchable in a "WTF?" sort of way. Thanks for the tip, TZ.

Watched that Ozzy documentary called The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne. Pretty good, but not a lot of new stuff that hasn't been talked about for years. Whole movie is on YouTube if anyone is interested in watching it.

Just got back from the theater and saw the movie called Antlers. Kinda cool I was the only one in the theater. Not a bad flick at all. Nothing really mind bending, but was worth watching, and one of the better horror movies I've seen lately. Produced by Guillermo del Toro, so I figured it'd be worth the chance.
US Release Date: October 29, 2021 Starring: Keri Russell, Jesse Plemons, Jeremy T. Thomas Directed By: Scott Cooper Synopsis: A small-town Oregon teacher and her brother, the local sheriff, become entwined with a young student harboring a dangerous secret with frightening consequences.

I want to see that Wrecked but I'll wait for the DVD. I used to really like Del Toro but his last few have been stinkers. "Antlers" is basically about The Wendigo, correct? I read all about that legend when I was a kid.

Yes it is. I liked it, but was hoping to see more carnage. It has its fair share, but I want more lol

Ernest Saves Christmas (1988)
It's just past Remembrance Day, and that means Christmas is being promoted. I felt it was time to start the Holiday spirit early by watching a Christmas movie, and I watched Ernest Saves Christmas. I have a very soft spot for Ernest P. Worrell, and this is one of the best Ernest movies. Not the best of the series (that title goes to Ernest Goes to Jail), but very far from the worst (that would definitely be Ernest Goes to Africa).

"Mother of Tears" (aka "Mother of Tears: the Third Mother," 2007)
Dario Argento finally closes out his "Three Mothers" trilogy (which began with "Suspiria" in '77 and continued with "Inferno" in '80) with this tale of an archeology student who opens an ancient burial urn that unleashes a wave of evil and violence upon the city of Rome. This long overdue conclusion isn't quite as artfully weird as its predecessors and it drags a bit in the middle, but it's lushly photographed as usual and when things heat up the splatter flows hot 'n heavy. Better than expected.

I’m watching Repo Man w/ Emilio Estevez (1984) right now on Tubi.
Notice every food and drink product in the movie was a generic (no brand).

I watched this a few days ago. I have the Blu-ray for shits and giggles (mainly because my aunt’s husband is a prominent “extra” in it).

Death Line(1972)-two students find a man unconscious in a London subway, only to find he has disappeared when they come back with help. As the police begin to look into the case, murders begin happening in the subway. Soon it's discovered that a cannibalistic, homeless man is behind the gruesome killings and that he is also the last living survivor of a group of people who were trapped in the subway many years earlier after a cave-in while the tunnels where being built. Pretty decent cult film with some enjoyable performances from Donald Pleasance(who really chews the scenery in this one) and Christopher Lee in a small cameo. For those into some of the earlier gore films. 2.5/5

That plot sounded too familiar so I looked up Death Line on IMdb. It's aka "Raw Meat" which is the title on the DVD I have.

"Barb Wire" (1996)
Set in a post-apocalyptic 2017 (hah!), this mostly forgotten action flick stars Pamela Anderson as the Dark Horse Comics heroine, a stacked, leather-clad, butt kicking bounty hunter (huntress?) who gets mixed up in a plot to help a scientist escape the clutches of the new fascist government. Stuff crashes, bullets fly, things explode. Pamela can't act worth a damn, but that's OK cuz this movie doesn't require her to do much more than stand around in skimpy outfits, pout, and shoot people. The supporting cast is bland and the story is a muddle, so unless you're an obsessed Pamela fan, you can safely skip this one.

Planet Of The Apes (1968)
Classic sci fi tale of astronauts stranded on a far flung futuristic planet where apes rule and mankind has degenerated into a primitive animal like state. This movie spawned numerous sequels, a tv show spin off and created a cultural phenom in the mid 70s. Now everyone knows the twist ending to this one, and watching it countless times has not taken anything away from this. It has a great cast and story and never grows old.

I agree, even knowing the ending doesn't ruin the enjoyment of that flick for me.
Except I can't see it now without thinking of this:

"Bloody Birthday" (1981)
Three seemingly innocent kids, all born on the same day during a lunar eclipse, begin to exhibit murderous tendencies as they approach their mutual 10th birthday, killing off anyone unlucky enough to get in their way - even their own family members. A delightfully sleazy combo of the slasher and killer-kid genres, the young actors appear to be having lots of fun playing the murderous tots. Watch for future MTV comedienne Julie "The Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun" Brown as the slutty older sister of one of the psycho kids.
"Machete" (2010)
A former Mexican federale (Danny Trejo) is hired to assassinate an anti-immigration U.S. senator (Robert DeNiro), but he gets double crossed and spends the rest of the movie chopping and shooting his way through countless bad guys and blowing up half of Texas in order to clear his name. Robert Rodriguez' hilariously over-the-top "Grindhouse" spin off is tons of cartoony, gory, ultra violent fun. Trejo is his usual deadpan badass self, the supporting cast is fantastic (DeNiro, Steven Seagal, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Don Johnson, Jeff Fahey), and there's plenty of eye candy (Jessica Alba, god DAMN!). Turn off your brain and enjoy the ride.

King Kong Vs. Godzilla (1962)
The original giant monster bash pitting the famous giant gorilla against Japan's star monster. The first color Godzilla film with lots of fun action in it despite the poor looking gorilla suit. Another interesting fact, both female leads ended up in the James Bond flick, You Only Live Twice.

"Murderers' Row" (1966)
Second film in the "Matt Helm" series, with Dean Martin as the swingin' super spy, trying to track down a missing scientist before his solar weapon can be used to turn Washington, D.C. into a crispy wasteland. As usual, Dean smirks, drinks, and macks on all the pretty girls while his stunt double does most of the work. Ann-Margret, smokin' hot as ever, plays the scientist's daughter/Dean's love interest/damsel in distress. This was probably the best of the "Helm" films I've seen thus far. I guess I'm gonna have to watch "The Ambushers" at some point just to finish out the series.
"Closed for Storm" (2020)
The guys behind the "Abandoned" series of YouTube urban-exploration videos make the jump to feature length documentaries with this study of Jazzland, aka Six Flags New Orleans, the amusement park that was heavily damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and was never reopened. Fifteen years later, the rotting park has become an irresistible magnet for vandals and thrill seekers, and a headache for the city and the residents who live nearby. Interviews with park employees, local politicians, and theme park enthusiasts mix with heartbreaking footage of the park in its heyday intercut with scenes of the storm's damage and its lingering aftermath. Interesting stuff.

"Arena" (1989)
Set on a distant space station in the year 4083, a young Earthling trains to compete in "Arena" -- a no holds barred intergalactic fighting competition that hasn't been won by a human being in fifty years. A cool sci-fi cheapie from Charles Band's Empire Pictures, this is basically "Rocky" set on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." For an obviously low budget movie, it's populated with an impressive amount of cool/weird looking aliens and creatures and it's fun watching the hero slug it out with them. Mindless fun.
