- Whitesnake's S/T from 1987 would be my choice
Excellent choice!
It’s a great album. Well, yeah, it is, but...just to be absolutely clear here, in your opinion there is no other pop/hair metal album you would consider great that came after Whitesnake '87? I just applauded his choice. Mine is Skid Row s/t. It really is a good choice. Certainly the last great Whitesnake album. Classic. I was just thinking about the year 1988 and all I can come up with is Blow My Fuse and Beast from the East. I gotta say, the more I think about it, Beast from the East could get my vote for the last great live pop metal album. Can't think of another live package by these bands that surpassed it. And come to think of it, wasn't the popularity of live albums in decline around that time?

Britny Fox s/t Long Cold Winter Cool From the Wire LA Guns s/t Lillian Axe s/t Winger s/t And those are the standouts. There's other really good stuff in 1988 that maybe is not quite to the degree as those.

| In the Rolling Stones list of Top 50 Hair Metal albums, the newest album listed is 1992's "The Lizard" by Saigon Kick at #33.

| Ah, Winger was '88. For some reason I thought it was 89. Bad with years (the classic Eddie Trunk excuse haha). That Britny Fox is a strong contender. One of the greatest heavy metal debates of the 90's was whether or not that Saigon Kick album was hair metal. | |

And those are the standouts. There's other really good stuff in 1988 that maybe is not quite to the degree as those. Some of the songs on the 1988 Bulletboys debut are good.

This thread made me go buy the first two Saigon Kick albums on CD. Just picked them up today. A guy in the neighbourhood was selling them used.

| Bulletboys, man, they had potential but never really achieved it. | |
