I know many of you have moved on from the solid medium...I can't. So far I've never purchased a CD digital only...I can't stand the idea. It gives me a weird feeling in my chest just thinking about it.
However!! Stupid Youtube suggestions led me to this:
It's SO good and when I look for CDs the cheapest I can find is $129!!
It must be incredibly rare and already OOP...
So I'm tempted to buy digital.

Come on over to the dark side Scott! Lol! Really though, it bothered me a little at first but now I rarely buy cd’s. Truthfully I don’t buy many albums at all anymore.

I am with Scott. This topic has been done to death and i always say that no matter what, i will always buy a cd.
I use the internet to check out a sample, a band i've never heard before. If i like what i hear, i go for the physical format.
Japan, which is way ahead of us all in terms of technology and digital world, still carries the biggest number of cd and dvd shops probably, and you always find lots of collectors going through the metal section, whenever you're in any of their shops. That says something...

I just don't understand what the big deal is about going both directions. Physical copy affordable? Cool, buy it. Too expensive? No worries, stream it or purchase a digital copy. The whole "physical purity" movement is waaaay past its expiration date and rather myopic.
Anyway, that's some pretty decent tech death there; surprised the physical copy is going for so much.

I agree with all of you guys on this one; whatever medium you can afford and it still supports the band is cool by me. I don't know if I could ever go "all digital" though as I love collecting music as much as I love to listen to and be moved by it. This is where youtube comes in handy. There are some things I run across and fall in love with, but there is only a vinyl release and it's crazy expensive. Two examples of this are Spitfire's "First Attack" and Palass' "Queen of the World" albums where there never was a disc or a cassette as far as I could tell. Whenever the mood strikes me I can go online and listen, And, there is always the chance that these will get a CD release as was the case with Universe and Emerald.

I am with Scott, I have nothing against digital, especially if you do not to hassle of storing CD's but I love CD's and will keep buying them. I think that their should be availability to buy your music on a physical format if that is how one collects or prefers to listen music.

I used to be the same way, but then ran into the same situation. What are you gonna do? So now I buy the physical product if it exists. If not, and the price isn't stupid, I'll buy the digital version.

Yeah, it's making me feel queasy/weird but I've almost got myself talked into it. It's not even from some "purity" standpoint like someone mentioned, it's that I LOVE having the physical product. It's part of the whole experience for me. If I only have the digital stuff, the experience isn't full.
But...I want this album!

I bought a large-capacity MP3 player, and the converted all my CDs to MP3. That helped me get used to the digital stuff. Right now, my MP3 played has 22,015 songs on it. Only partially full. Pretty cool little thing to be able to take with me.

This is why I never got the Spirit of the Times EP by Sons of Liberty - it was not made available on CD. And I have everything else released by Jon Schaffer, EP's and singles and live albums.

They probably have some copies or know how to get some. Say you're a big fan of the album and offer to paypal in advance for their trouble.

I did that once. There was a band NRG on the Transformers 1986 soundtrack whose song was great. And I could never find anything by that band name. Then I stumbled once on ebay onto an 80s demo tape by NRG, and through a rabbit hole came across a compilation CD of the band that had come out over a decade ago and only 1 was available on discogs for like a $100 or so. I kept digging and tracked down a member of the band's website for their graphic design business or something like that and emailed the guy and asked about it and bought one of the CDs from him for $10.

The new Axxis EP is also only available digitally:
I can only hope most of the songs will be featured on the next full length album.

There is a CD version of Subrosa's debut but it was never re-pressed and is rare as unicorn poop.
I don't care though, I'm pretty repulsed by the idea of more clutter, digital is fine.

I haven’t made the switch to purchasing downloads only, but I’m getting real close. Getting the physical copy of a cd seems like a waste to me anymore.

Listening to this on Spotify now. I didn't realize there was an EP after that first album. I enjoyed the first album quite a bit. The lyrics are goofy as hell, but that's okay. I assume a lot of them were about Obama, or at least the broader "elites" and Illuminati and shit, but they work anyway because I can listen to the lyrics today and it may as well be about Trump, his Wall Street cronies and right wing media, so it evens out in the end.

I don't buy digital. If it's not available on CD, then I'm not going to own it. Luckily for me I'm old enough, and have enough songs ripped from my CD's onto my memory card, (12,000+), that I can hold out until death and still not miss out on to much. The classics and must haves are already long owned by me.

I have been looking for a cd or vinyl copy of Green Lung Woodland Rites...No luck so I finally had to download it and burned it onto a cd... If you haven't heard it and are a fan of 70s black Sabbath style check it out...

I have a FiiO X1. It's an older MP3 player, with a slow-ish processor, but it's solid.
