| I spent 3 hours today getting the "winter" off my car (washing, waxing, vacuuming, Armor-Alling, and leather protectant) and had my SanDisk player on for most of it. Various old PC69 tracks came on reminding me how much I used to dig the band so I checked out Amazon and bought their last one: I just love David Readman's vocals; his tone and pitch just sits right in my aural wheelhouse, mostly baritone but still hits some high notes. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

I had to look up why these were 50th anniversary editions, because the math for when all those albums were released was not adding up.
I had no idea the band had been around since 1965. It seems to me there should be some early DIY singles kicking around of them as a young German garage band doing jangly covers of Beatles and Who songs and then distorted fuzzy covers of Animals and Them songs that would precede their 70s output. Their discography on Wiki says otherwise though. Listen to their first album Lonesome Crow from 1972. You won't recognize them. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | I just ordered both Red Death LPs (the first one was just repressed, third pressing of 500).
I've been listening to these both on Spotify for a couple of years and finally got around to getting actual copies. One of my favorites right now. Thrashy crossover. They just signed to Century Media, and I'm stoked for the new album.
If you like old shit like Cro Mags and Leeway or new shit like Mindforce and Power Trip, you will like Red Death I assume. | |

I'll let you know once it gets here. It came today. I haven't listened to it yet but I didn't realize the album contains a "bonus disc" of live material. The live songs aren't from this album but rather seem to be 9 random songs culled from various points in the PC69 discography, including a couple Deris-era songs. Unfortunately "Keep Your Eyes On The Twisted" isn't one of them but still...if you're into live music that disc alone might make it a worthwhile purchase. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
